Father of Political Prisoner on Hunger Strike Detained

HRANA- The father of one of the seventeen political prisoners from ward 350 of Evin Prison on hunger strike has been detained. Ali Parviz’s father was arrested this morning.

Kalame reports, that Ali Parviz’s father was detained at the judiciary where he was delivering a letter on behalf of the families of the political prisoners on hunger strike.

Reza Malek on Hunger Strike

HRANA- Political prisoner Reza Malek has begun a dry hunger strike after being transferred to solitary confinement for protesting the inhumane conditions and treatment in Evin Prison.

HRANA has learned that Reza Malek, whose video from Evin Prison was revealed last year by HRANA, began a dry hunger strike five days ago after being transferred to solitary ward 240 approximately twenty days ago, joining seventeen other political prisoners in their hunger strike.

Bahman Ahmadi Amooei, Keyvan Samimi, and Majid Tavakoli on Dry Hunger Strike

HRANA- Three political prisoners on hunger strike in Evin Prison are reportedly in critical condition.

Kalame reports that Bahman Ahmadi Amooei, journalist Keyvan Samimi, and student activist Majid Tavakoli have been on dry hunger strike refusing even water while the rest of the political prisoners on hunger strike are refusing solid foods.

Reports state that of the three on dry hunger strike, Bahman Ahmadi Amooei and Keyvan Samimi have been taken to the prison’s medical facility on one occasion. The families of the hunger strikers are expressing great concern for their loved ones.

Political Prisoners on Hunger Strike Deliver Demands

HRANA- Seventeen political prisoners in Ward 350 of Evin Prison on hunger strike since last Monday have stated their demands. The prisoners delivered their demands to prison officials and a representative of Tehran’s prosecutor stating they will not end their hunger strike until their demands are met.

The seventeen political prisoners have been on hunger strike since being transferred to solitary confinement last Monday for protesting inhumane treatment by prison officials. They are on hunger strike demanding their basic human rights.

Ahmad Karimi’s Family Worried About their Son’s Condition

HRANA- Ahmad Karimi’s family has expressed concern regarding their son’s condition.  Mr. Karimi was recently transferred to the solitary confinement ward in Evin Prison.
A member of Ahmad Karimi’s family has told HRANA that they were prevented from meeting with Karimi when they attempted to visit him on Monday.  Their has been no word regarding his condition for the last three days.  All phone services to Evin Prison have been cut.  Since the Iranian New Year, Ahmad Karimi has met with his family only for a five minute non-contact meeting.

Deteriorating Physical Condition of Ayatollah Hossein Kazemeyni Boroujerdi

HRANA- Ayatollah Hossien Kazemeyni Boroujerdi’s health is at serious risk as he serves his sentence in horrible conditions in Evin Prison.

HRANA has learned that prison officials are preventing the treatment of this political prisoner who is suffering from serious conditions in his eyes and legs.

His family states that he is on the brink of blindness and that he is losing his ability to stand or walk.

Majid Tavakoli Meets with Family for the First Time in Three Months

HRANA- Majid Tavakoli, a prominent student activist met his family for the first time in three months.

Ali Tavakoli, speaking with HRANA reporters stated that on Monday July 19, 2010 he was able to meet with his brother in a specified cubicle during a non-contact visit that lasted for ten minutes.

Abolfazl Abedini Denied Visitation Rights for Two More Weeks

HRANA- The deputy warden of Karoon Ahwaz Prison has denied Abolfazl Abedini, journalist and human rights activist, his visitation rights for two more weeks.
HRANA reporters have learned that he was informed last night by Karoon Ahwaz Prison’s deputy warden that he is not allowed to have any family visitations for two more weeks. This comes a week after Abedini was denied a visit by his mother.

No Word on Fate of Political Prisoner Sentenced to Death

HRANA- After more the seven months, the revolutionary court and the intelligence ministry continue to with hold information from the family of a political prisoner sentenced to death, regarding his fate.

HRANA has learned that Aziz Mohammadzadeh, a Kurdish political prisoner sentenced to death on charges of being a “mohareb” or “waging war against God” for his affiliation with an anti-government organization, was taken to an unknown location seven months ago. No relevant government authority has offered any answers to his family’s inquiries regarding his fate.
