A Report about Recent Arrests in Azerbaijan and Ardebil Provinces

HRANA News Agency – Following the protests in various cities of Azerbaijan and Ardebil provinces in response to the article published in the newspaper of “Tarhe No” and the continuation of the protests in recent days, a wave of arrests of protesting citizens in these cities has begun. The latest list of names or those who were arrested or released from custody and also, the latest status of 31 of these individuals follows.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), after several days of protests in different cities of Azerbaijan and Ardabil provinces in response to the article published in the “Tarhe No” newspaper, civilians are being still arrested. 24 Turkish Civilians Arrested in Different Cities

HRANA News Agency – Following the rally in various cities in Azerbaijan and Ardabil provinces in protest to the article in the “Tarhe No” newspaper and the continuation of the protests, the wave of arresting Turkish (Azeri) activists in various cities including Tabriz, Urmia, Khoy, Maragheh, Zanjan, Ardabil and Tehran continued by the arrest of 24 others on July 28.

A Number of Demonstrators Arrested in Tabriz

HRANA News Agency – Following the gathering of a group of citizens of Tabriz in protest to the published article in the “Tarhe No” newspaper, a number of protesters were arrested and transferred to an unknown location. Reports indicate the widespread presence of troops and anti-riot vehicles in the city.

Siamak Mirzai Transferred to Evin Prison

HRANA News Agency – Siamak Mirzai, from Pars Abad in Ardabil, who had been arrested by the security forces at his workplace, was transferred to ward 209 of Evin prison, based on a proxy detention warrant.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Siamak Mirzai, from Pars Abad in Ardabil, who had been arrested by the security forces at his workplace in Pars Abad and had been taken to the Intelligence Office in Ardabil, has informed his wife through a phone call that he had been transferred to ward 209 of Evin prison in Tehran by a proxy detention warrant which was issued by branch 3 of the Golestan prosecution office (Saweh Road). Milad Akbari Released on the Bail from Tabriz Prison

HRANA News Agency – Milad Akbari, Turk (Azeri) activist from Tabriz, was released from Tabriz Central Prison on the bail of 1000 million IRR. Ali Hamzehzadeh, the other inmate of the case, is still held in the Intelligence office Tabriz.
