Security Forces Destroy Public Property in Urmia Bazaar

HRANA News Agency – Iranian security and anti riot forces have attacked an indoor market on Mosom Street and destroyed public property.Earlier, this bazaar had been closed because of demonstrations.

According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Iranian security and anti riot forces entered the indoor market on Mosom Street and intentionally destroyed public property while this bazaar had been shut down earlier, and there was no reason for the security forces to enter the grounds.

Another report indicates that detained demonstrators from today’s protests in Urmia have been taken to the Police Station #11 located at Modares Square, Peleh Dentention Center #9, and Intelligence Agency’s Detention Center on Imam Musa Sadr Alley.

Today, thousands of demonstrators poured into streets of Tabriz and Urmia to protest against Lake Urmia drying up. During the majority of these protests, clashes broke out when security forces interfered with the demonstrations and confronted the crowds.

Furthermore, Tehran is under tense military and security measures, and police forces have been present heavily in a number of main squares throughout the capital including Baharestan Square and streets around the Parliament.

 

Two Iranian Weekly Publications on Trial

HRANA News Agency – On Sunday, June 26, 2011, the court hearing to review the charges against Chel Cheragh and Sayeh Tehran publications was held in Branch 76 of Tehran Province Criminal Court.A panel of judges presided over the trial while a jury consisting of representatives from Iranian press was also present.

According to a report by Iranian Student News Agency (ISNA), at the beginning of this court session, the indictment against the weekly magazine Chel Cheragh was read.Tehran Public and Revolutionary Court had filed charges against Chel Cheragh’s editor accusing him of the publication of women’s pictures as sex objects.

Additionally, the charges against the weekly publication Sayeh Tehran was dropped as the private plaintiff consented to withdraw the complaint.The publishers of Sayeh Tehran had been charged with distributing false reports.

 

Siamak Koshi, Student Activist, Expelled

HRANA News Agency – Siamak Koshi, a student activist, has been expelled from Tabriz Azad University after his release from prison.

According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), the Office of Student Affairs at Tabriz Azad University has sent an official letter to Siamak Koshi to inform him that he has been expelled from this university.No reason was given for his expulsion.

On May 20, 2011, Siamak Koshi, a Mechanical Engineering student, was arrested by Iran’s Intelligence Agency and charged with propaganda against the regime.

 

Workers of Spinning Factories in Kashan Not Paid for 33 Months

HRANA News Agency – The workers of spinning and weaving factories in the city of Kashan, Esfahan Province, protested and demanded thirty three months of back wages owed to them.

According to a report by Etedaal News, in recent days, the workers of spinning and weaving factories gathered in Kashan’s Valiasr Square in front of the gubernatorial office building and demanded the problem to be addressed by the newly appointed governor.The governor of Kashan has been in the office for only three days.

Approximately three hundred workers carrying signs and placards protested because they have not been paid any wages for thirty three months.

Another Honor-Killing: Young Man Burned Alive in Golestan Province

HRANA News Agency – Hamid Yaghmaei was brutally murdered in Gonbad-e-Kavus County by the relatives of a women with whom he allegedly had an improper relationship. Hamid Yaghmaei owned and operated a video club situated in a region referred to as Gardan Marzi.

According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), a woman’s relatives, suspicious of an inappropriate relationship between her and Hamid Yaghmaei, attacked his place of business, striking him with a dagger. The assailants fled the scene after pouring gasoline on him and setting his body ablaze.

Two People Were Executed in Khoozestan over Past Few Days

HRANA –A man was executed in public in the city of Ahvaz on Tuesday, May 18th, on charges of buying and selling narcotics.

Government news outlets have not revealed the identity of the executed man. The only official information came through a statement by Abdolhamid Amanat Behbahani, Head of Public Information for the Judiciary of the State of Khoozestan, who said: “the execution order of this long time smuggler was carried out in the area of Koot Abdollah in Ahvaz.”

According to Al-Arabia, Behbahani added: “This sentence was carried out in light of the mandate for the urgent carrying out of criminal sentences and with the purpose of dealing sternly with perpetrators of death after following all legal and Sharia required procedures.”

In addition, the Judiciary of the State of Khoozestan announced the execution of a man convicted of first degree murder in the city of Dezfoul on May 4th.

Based on this report, “Rahman R.” was arrested and tried for battery and intentional infliction of injuries resulting in the death of “Davood T.” He confessed to the crime charged and was sentenced to execution by the criminal court of Dezfoul. The sentence was carried out in Dezfoul after being affirmed by the Supreme Court.

Iranian Imprisoned Lawyer is being rejected for medical leave

HRANA News Agency – Abdolfattah Soltani, Iranian imprisoned lawyer, suffering from Sickle-cell disease is being rejected for medical leave by Judiciary authorities.
According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Abdolfattah Soltani, Iranian imprisoned lawyer, serving his 13 year in prison sentence and suffering from Sickle-cell disease, as Evin doctors says, must be allowed for medical leave to be examined and his cure out of prison.

Two Baha’i Citizens Were Arrested in Karaj

HRANA News Agency – Kamran Gheysari and Afshin Seyed Ahmad, Baha’i citizens from Karaj were arrested by security forces.

According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), security forces arrested Kamran Gheysar, a Baha’i citizen in Karaj from his work place, transferred him to an unknown place on Monday, November 5, 2012. After two days, security forces brought him to his house and searched all his belongings and seized some of his things and left house with him on Wednesday, November 7, 2012.

Death Penalty Upheld for Two Kurdish Political Prisoners

HRANA News Agency – The Supreme Court has upheld the death penalty for two Kurdish political prisoners locked up in Rajai-Shahr Prison.Both prisoners, Zanyar Moradi and Lughman Moradi, have been verbally notified of the Supreme Court’s ruling.

According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), the public defender assigned to these cases was unable to confirm the ruling although his clients have already been notified verbally by the authorities.
Zanyar Moradi and Lughman Moradi have been accused of killing the son of Friday Prayer Imam in Marivan and two members of his entourage on the orders of the British Secret Intelligence Services (MI6) and with the help of a Kurdish political party.After their confessions were aired on the state television, Judge Abolqasem Salvati presiding over the Revolutionary Court, Branch 15, sentenced them to be hanged in public.
When Zanyar Moradi and Lughman Moradi were transferred to Rajai-Shahr Prison, they wrote a letter detailing the account of physical tortures endured by them in prison and declared the confessions false and void since they were obtained under means of torture.In their letter, Zanyar Moradi and Lughman Moradi further explained that in addition to being severely tortured, they were threatened to be raped using a bottle if they didn’t confess to the crime.
