A student activist is summoned to FATA Police

HRANA News Agency – Mahdi Amani, the political deputy of Rohani’s students’ campaign, and one the political activists of Yazd University, has been summoned to FATA police bureau (cyber police), on charge of collusion and propaganda against governmental authorities and officials.

 

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), student activists of Yazd University, carried out, in a campaign titled “Dismissal of Dr. Meybodi from presidency of Yazd University”, to attempt for circulating a petition for changing the dean in previous weeks. At least 2 students are arrested in Tehran University

HRANA News Agency – Fatemeh Nasirpour, the student of Islamic Azad University of Oloum-o-Tahghighat (Science and research branch), and women rights activist, has been expelled from the university.

 

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Fatemeh Nasirpour, a well-known Azeri women rights activist, and the student of political science of Azad University, has been expelled during the third semester, without any further explanation. Arash Mohammadi’s verdict has been confirmed by the appeal court

HRANA News Agency – The branch 6 of Eastern Azerbaijan provincial appeal court confirmed the six months imprisonment verdict of Arash Mohammadi, the leftist student activist imprisoned in Tabriz prison.

Iranian student awarded human-rights prize while in prison

HRANA News Agency – Omid Kokabee, a physics PhD student jailed in Iran since January 2011, was awarded yesterday the 2014 American Physical Society’s Andrei Sakharov Prize for “his courage in refusing to use his physics knowledge to work on projects that he deemed harmful to humanity, in the face of extreme physical and psychological pressure.”

 

Kokabee has said that he had been pressured to cooperate in Iranian military projects that he thought were likely part of a covert nuclear programme. It is the first time a person is awarded the prize while in prison. Continue reading “Iranian student awarded human-rights prize while in prison”

HRANA News Agency – A group of ex-students of Allameh Tabatabaei University, which have been suspended during precedent years, asked for reassessment of their files in a protest.

 

According to a report of Tansim, some of the students who were suspended or expelled from the university during precedent years, accompanied by some ex-members of Islamic Student Community of Allameh Tabatabaei, in a remonstration in front of faculty of social science and the office of new dean, asked for reviewing and reassessment of their files.
