HRANA News Agency – Families of some prisoners in Evin Prison are reporting restrictions on sending packages to prisoners in different post offices.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), families of prisoners in Evin Prison heard from post officials, visiting separately Tehran Post Offices for sending postal packages for prisoners, over the new circular that they were not allowed to take any packet from a sender to the prison.
One of the families said in an interview with our reporter: “At a post office I was told that I could post to the prison to the extent of one or more sheet of paper (letter)”.
This has been possible despite the fact that prior to this prison officials in the case of “having no problem with the content”, delivered it to the prison.
It is worth noting that last February it was reported that officials of ward 8 had stated that delivering books for the prisoners was a subject to approval of the name and author of the book by prison authorities. Some of the prisoners say that according to this statement despite a license from the Ministry of Culture, prison authorities decide for prisoners what books they could read or not.
