Interrogation of 43 Prisoners after Publishing a Letter

HRANA News Agency – After writing and publishing help – request letter to the Secretary General of the United Nations and Human Rights Organisations by 45 Security-Political Prisoners, Intelligence service at Evin prison summoned 43 of them from ward 7 to its office and interrogated them.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), after publishing of “the help-request letter of 45 Security-Political Prisoners at Quarantine section of Ward 7 at Evin Prison to the United Nations and Human Right organisations” with regards to attending to inhumane living condition of these prisoners who have been transferred from Ward 350 to the dungeon of Ward 7, massive attempts by Intelligence Services and Prosecution Office initiated at this Ward.
After several days of creation of threatening environment, from the morning of Tuesday 6 January until its afternoon, officials from the Intelligence office of prison ( Mr Khatibi and others) summoned all those who signed the letter ( apart from two of them who were not present on the Ward) to the office of the ward master and interrogated them.
During these individual interrogations, prisoners were faced a piece of paper by the interrogator which were only asked “Approved or deny” without any explanation and they were forced to choose between the two.
After the first prisoner “ Salar Sotoudeh” resisted, complained and demanded an explanation on behalf of prisoners with regards to where this “approving or denying” would lead to , the interrogators showed rough reactions.
While interrogators restrained from giving any explanation, they resorted to threaten each individuals. Those few who were agreed to be sent on holiday after many follow-ups have been clearly told that their holiday request will be suspended if they fail to deny the letter.  In addition, preventing family visits, denying the right of pardon and denying the right of conditional release were among the other threats made to the prisoners.
