Leila Haghighatjoo Released on the Bail

HRANA News Agency – On February 18, 2017, Leila Haghighatjoo sister of Fatemeh Haghighatjoo, former MP from Tehran, was released on the bail from Evin prison.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), on February 18, 2017, Leila Haghighatjoo was released on the bail until the trial from Evin prison.

Ms. Haghighatjoo was arrested at her house by intelligence officers on December 19, 2016 and was transferred to Ward 209 of Evin Prison.

The citizen was held in solitary confinement for 42 days and was then transferred to women’s ward of Evin prison on January 29, 2017.

A source close to Leila Haghighatjoo told HRANA’s reporter that the reason of her arrest, potential charges and the stage of the case were unknown so far.

Earlier, Banafshe Khani, Leila Haghighatjoo’s mother had called for her freedom in a letter.

Mrs. Khani wrote in her letter that “it is unclear which organ have arrested Leila and why.”
