Majid Tavakoli Meets with Family for the First Time in Three Months

HRANA- Majid Tavakoli, a prominent student activist met his family for the first time in three months.

Ali Tavakoli, speaking with HRANA reporters stated that on Monday July 19, 2010 he was able to meet with his brother in a specified cubicle during a non-contact visit that lasted for ten minutes.

He said that Majid Tavakoli looked in better health and that he was in high spirits although he has spent more seven months in prison. Majid’s mother and father were unable to make the trip to see their son because of health issues.

Majid Tavakoli was arrested on December 7th of last year during Iran’s Students Day and was sentenced to eight and a half years in prison. Majid was transferred from ward 350 of Evin Prison to the prison clinic due to internal bleeding caused by the extremely poor conditions.

Majid Tavakoli’s family and lawyer are still waiting for his case to be reviewed by an appeals court.
