Mostafa Salimi, 13 Years on Death Row in Saqez Prison

HRANA News Agency – Mostafa Salimi is on death row in Saqez prison since 13 years. This prisoner has been arrested on April 6, 2003.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Mr. Salimi has been sentenced to death with security and political charges like armed robbery, sacrilege and membership in conflicting Kurdish parties.

A close source to this prisoner, by rejecting these allegations stated that he was a member in Democratic Kurdish Party, which he had quited before his arrest.

This source said that Mostafa Salimi had been for three months in the solitary confinement under pressure, and one of the officers who testified seeing the murder scene committed by him, withdrew his testimony officially after 4 years.

Mostafa Salimi, born on June 25, 1967, was a National Gas Company’s contractor and has been sentenced to death on charge of assassination of judge Godini. He had many hunger strikes in protest to the sentence, which he described as unfair.

It is said that a part of the case is still open and under process by the judiciary and after 13 years.
