A Report about the Transgender Prisoners in Evin Prison

HRANA News Agency – Transgender prisoners are kept in inhumane conditions, sometimes serving several years in prison, without a phone, fresh air and even a shop in the prison in a situation similar to a solitary confinement in “phase one” of the fourth floor of ward 240 of Evin prison.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), although some of Iran’s domestic news agencies reports about problems of transgender citizens were published and organizations such as “Welfare Organization”, “Gender Identity Disorder Patient support Association in Iran” and “Mhta – Centre for Iranian Transsexual” work to support them, but the process of arresting and keeping them in inhumane conditions in ward 240 of Evin prison continues.
