Third Month of Solitary Confinement for Student Activist Arash Sadeghi

 

HRANA – Student activist Arash Sadeghi has been in solitary confinement in Ward 240 of Evin prison for over 60 days. 

Arash Sadeghi is a student activist at Allameh Tabatabai University and was a member of Mir Hussain Mousavi ‘s 2009 presidential campaign.  According to Bamdad News, Mr. Sadeghi was arrested during the street demonstrations on December 27, 2009 (day of Ashura).  He was granted a two-week leave from prison for the Iranian New Year on March 21, 2010. He reported back to prison on April 4 and has been in a solitary confinement cell in Ward 240 ever since. According to his family, Mr. Sadeghi is in terrible physical condition.

While on leave, Mr. Sadeghi related to his friends that he was violently beaten in prison and had dislocated his right shoulder twice.  He had remained silent about his situation because of the open threats of the interrogators against him.

Arash Sadeghi was sentenced to three years in prison by Judge Moghiseh presiding over Branch 28 of the Revolutionary Court.
