HRANA News Agency – Although a number of detainees have been released after being arrested in a gathering held in Tabriz [Capital of East Azerbaijan Province, Iran] on April 2, 2011, reports indicate that three of them were transferred to the Intelligence Agency in town.
According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), the three civil rights activists of Azerbaijan have been identified as Habib Poorvali, Jalil Alamdar Millani and Hojat Mokhtarzadh. Meanwhile a large number of those detained on April 2, 2011 in Tabriz have been released on bail ranging from approximately $5,000 to $10,000.
On April 2, 2011, civil rights activists gathered in Azerbaijan Tabriz Square to protest bad government policies and the increasing rate by which Lake Urmia has been drying out. During this demonstration, at least seventy individuals were arrested.



HRANA –The arrests of union activists continue with the arrests of Mohammad Ali Shirazi and Mohammad Ali Shahedi, two members of the Board of Directors of the Teachers’ Union in Yazd.
HRANA – In the early hours of Thursday, May 27th, more than twenty armed plain-clothes agents raided the office of the Board of Trustees, the office of the Founder, and the Office for the Center of Advanced Arts and Sciences at Azad University and illegally entered the premises.

HRANA News Agency – During the last three weeks, Iranian security forces have raided Baha’i residents’ houses in the village of Kata and arrested a large number of them.The village of Kata is situated in northwestern Iran at the outskirts of Yasuj, the capital of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province.
HRANA News Agency reports that according to Press TV, the attack occurred in front of Imam Hussein Mosque in southeastern city of Chabahar when people gathered for a mourning ceremony on the religious occasion of Tasua. The Shia religious holiday was overshadowed by the suicide bombing that killed 41 people and injured several more. Although the rebel group Jundollah claimed responsibility for the deadly attack, Chief of Iran’s Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi accused the United States and Britain of involving in the attack, ISNA news agency reported.
