Mojtaba Moghiseh Arrested in Sabzevar

HRANA – On Wednesday, August 20, Mojtaba Moghiseh, a resident of Sabzevar, was arrested by security forces in the city and transferred to an undisclosed location.

A source close to the family confirmed the news to HRANA, stating: “Mr. Moghiseh was arrested on Wednesday, August 20, by security forces in Sabzevar. Since his detention, he has not contacted his family, and his whereabouts remain unknown.” At the time of this report, no information is available regarding the reasons for his arrest.

In late 2024, Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court of Sabzevar sentenced him to seven months and 15 days in prison and one year of exile. In late-April 2025, Moghiseh’s conviction was upheld in full by the Court of Appeals of Razavi Khorasan Province.

Another part of his case, on the charge of insulting sacred beliefs, is still under review at Branch 103 of the Criminal Court of Sabzevar.

Mojtaba Moghiseh is one of those arrested during the 2022 nationwide protests in Sabzevar and has previously faced arrest and conviction over his activities.

Appeals Court: Mojtaba Moghiseh Sentenced to Prison and Exile

HRANA News Agency – The Appeals Court of Khorasan Razavi Province has upheld the conviction of Mojtaba Moghiseh without any changes. He had previously been sentenced by Branch 1 of the Sabzevar Revolutionary Court to seven months and 15 days in prison and one year of exile.

Based on the verdict issued by the Appeals Court and delivered to him yesterday, he was sentenced to seven months and 15 days in prison and one year of exile to Khour County on the charge of “propaganda against the regime.”

In March, 2025, Branch 1 of the Sabzevar Revolutionary Court had initially sentenced him to prison and exile.

Another part of his case, on the charge of “insulting sanctities,” is still under review at Branch 103 of the Sabzevar Criminal Court.

Mr. Moghiseh was arrested on December 31, 2024, after being summoned to Branch 7 of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office in Sabzevar and was then transferred to Sabzevar Prison.

On March 6, 2025, Moghiseh was released from Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad after posting a bail of 2 billion tomans. He had previously been transferred from Sabzevar Prison to Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad on February 20, 2025.

Mojtaba Moghiseh is one of those arrested during the 2022 nationwide protests in Sabzevar and had previously been arrested and convicted for his activism.

HRANA News Agency – Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court of Sabzevar has sentenced Mojtaba Moghiseh, a resident of Sabzevar, to seven months and 15 days of imprisonment and one year of exile.

According to the verdict recently issued and officially communicated to Mr. Moghiseh, he was convicted on the charge of propaganda against the regime. In addition, a separate case against him on the charge of insulting sanctities remains under review at Branch 103 of the Criminal Court of Sabzevar.

His trial was held on March 11 at the Sabzevar Revolutionary Court.

Earlier, on March 6, Mojtaba Moghiseh was released from Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad after posting bail set at 2 billion tomans. He had been transferred to Vakilabad Prison from Sabzevar Prison on February 21.

Moghiseh was initially arrested on December 31, 2024, after being summoned to Branch 7 of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office in Sabzevar. He was subsequently transferred to Sabzevar Prison.

A former detainee of the 2022 nationwide protests, Moghiseh has a history of arrest and conviction due to his activism.

The Sabzevar Revolutionary Court sentenced brothers Mehrdad and Mojtaba Moghiseh, arrested at recent protests, to nine years and six months in prison, and two years in exile.

Each of the Moghiseh brothers received six years for “clashing with the police and forming groups in order inciting people to riot” and three years and six months for “assembly and collusion to act against national security.” They have also been sentenced to two years in exile in Khour and Biabanak County, Isfahan province.

On September 24, 2022, security forces arrested them violently amid recent nationwide protests. According to an informed source, they were under pressure to make coerced confessions during the detention. On December 22, 2022, they were released on bail.
“One of their brothers, Masoud Moghiseh, an Oil Company employee, was suspended from work, even though he was not involved whatsoever.”
