A Prisoner Transferred to Urmia Prison for Amputation

HRANA News Agency – Yousef Parvaneh, 70-year old prisoner in Ghezalhesar prison, was transferred to Urmia prison for the implementation of the amputation sentence. He was charged with robbery.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), a 70-year-old prisoner, with the identity of “Yousef Parvaneh”, was transferred from Ghezelhesar prison in Karaj to Urmia Central Prison, regarding his case in this city, to have his fingers amputated.
An informed source, regarding the prisoner’s case, told HRANA’s reporter: “The case belongs to 2008 and it is a robbery case. Mr. Parvaneh had been released on the bail two years later in 2010, but he was held in Ghezelhesar prison for another case since 2011 and about one month ago he was transferred to Urmia prison.”
The source also said that the verdict had been issued in absentia, by the Criminal Court Branch 102 of Urmia, and continued: “Mr. Parvaneh has appealed, but because the brother of one of the complainants is one of the city’s influential military figures, probably the sentence will be executed”.
