HRANA– At dawn on Sunday, July 20, the death sentences of six prisoners previously convicted on drug-related charges were carried out in Zahedan Prison.

According to HRANA, citing Haal Vsh, six prisoners were executed today, Sunday, July 20, 2025, in Zahedan Prison. The identities of three of these prisoners have been confirmed as:

  • Abdoljalil Darkzahi, approximately 35 years old, married, from and residing in Chah-Ahmad village, Taftan County.

  • Nematollah Shahnawazi, married, from and residing in Khash County.

  • Dariush Shahbakhsh (also known as Abdolnasir), 24 years old, married, from and residing in Golchah village, part of the Kurin District of Zahedan.

According to the report, Darkzahi, Shahnawazi, and Shahbakhsh were arrested in separate cases about four years ago on drug-related charges and were later sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court in Zahedan. The report does not mention the identities of the other three prisoners.

As of the time of this report, prison authorities and relevant institutions have not officially announced these executions.

According to HRANA’s report, in 2024, over 52 percent of executed prisoners had been convicted on drug-related charges. Over the past ten years, individuals convicted of drug trafficking have accounted for 40 percent of all executions. Unfortunately, HRANA’s statistics show no progress in reducing executions for drug-related offenses.
