HRANA’s Daily Review of Protests in Iran

On Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at least seven protests and one labour strike took place in Iran.

A number of citizens who purchased long ago the pieces of land in the district Golestan in Tehran demonstrated before the municipality building. According to these protestors, 25 five years after purchasing, they have not received any building permits.

A group of school service workers held a protest in front of the Ministry of Education in Tehran. These protestors demand to work in the education section as the Ministry has approved and announced.

A number of employees of the Telecommunication Company held a protest against delays in payments inside the Regional manager’s office in Tabriz.

A group of workers of Brick factory Jil protested against the factory closure before the Governorate building in Karun.

A number of workers of Asalem Municipality gathered to ask for wage and insurance demands before the Municipality.

In Rafsanjan, Kerman Province, a group of citizens who have not received their purchased vehicles from SAIPA Company protested before the Justice building.

The medical staff of a hospital in Tehran protested against the non-payment of six-month salaries.

A group of service workers of Tehran Metro went on strike and marched from their workplace to the Central building of Metro Company in protest against delays in payments.

On Sunday, August 28, 2022, at least seven protests took place in Iran.

A number of workers and personnel of Kuhdasht Municipality, Lorestan Province, gathered before the Governor’s office to ask for their demands.

In Urmia, a number of chauffeurs protested against three-month unpaid wages and other issues before the city hall.

A group of school service workers gathered before the Ministry of Education in Khuzestan and Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Provinces to ask for equal wages.

A number of the applicants for the nationwide university entrance exam protested in Tehran against a recent enactment of the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution.

A group of personnel of the petrochemical company Bonyan Tose Rastin assembled and protested at their workplace in Bandar Imam Khomeini.

A group of truck drivers held a protest at Border terminal Nordooz located in East Azerbaijan Province. These drivers have been waiting for passage permits for five days at the border crossing with Armenia.

 

HRANA’s Daily Review of Protests in Iran

On Saturday, August 27, 2022, at least four protests took place in Iran.

A number of citizens gathered before the Iranian Public Conscription Organization against two years of compulsory military service. This protest turned violent by police and several students and reporters were arrested.

In Omidiyeh County, Khuzestan Province, a number of job seekers protested against poor living conditions and unemployment before the Governor’s office.

A number of farmers of Kohgiluyeh County gathered before the Governorate building to demand their water portion from the Marun River.

In Tabriz, a group of citizens who have purchased apartments for a housing construction project held a protest in front of the Municipality building.

On Thursday, August 25, 2022, at least two protests and one labour strike took place in Iran.

The residents of Hamedan continued their protests against water shortage in front of the Mausoleum of Avicenna. During last week, they experienced repeated water supply outages.

A video circulated on social media shows the police beating a woman during the protest.

The residents of a village in Kazerun County, Fars Province, held a protest against the water disruption.

The truck drivers and truck owners, working for the mining companies, went on strike in Qorveh, Kurdistan Province. They protested against low freight fees. These drivers also face other issues such as the decrease in fuel rations and the increase in road tolls.

On Wednesday, August 24, 2022, at least five protests took place in Iran.

The workers of Agro-Industry Complex Karoon held a protest at their workplace. The workers said that unlike promises made during the last negotiation, their demands have not yet been addressed.

The firefighters in Karaj City gathered in front of the Municipality to protest against their poor living conditions, unpaid wages and benefits including extra pay for working night shifts.

For the second consecutive day, the workers of the vegetable oil company Jahan held a protest in front of the Ministry of Labour in Zanjan. The Factory managers have laid off 60 out of 85 workers due to financial issues.

In Shiraz, a group of working and retired workers of the vegetable oil company Narges protested against low wages and their poor living conditions. The protestors said that the factory directors sell the factory amenities, lands and machinery for their own profit.

A number of citizens who have been victims of the fraudulent activities of two car dealership companies Pars and Karma demonstrated before the company to ask for the apprehension of two fugitives company managers.

HRANA’s Daily Review of Protests in Iran

On Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at least two protests took place in Iran.

About 60 laid-off workers of the vegetable oil company Jahan gathered before this company and then the Governor-General’s office in Zanjan City. The Factory managers have laid off 60 out of 85 workers due to financial issues.

A number of the medical interns of Ahvaz University of Medical Sciences protested against the University officials’ mismanagement.

On Monday, August 22, 2022, at least four protests took place in Iran.

In Isfahan, a number of farmers demonstrated in front of the Isfahan Regional Water Organization to demand their water portions and other issues.

A number of workers of Qazvin-based chemical and consumer goods Company Tolypers gathered and protested at their workplace. One of the workers said: “Since the beginning of the year, due to the raw material shortage, the factory productivity has been decreased and payments have been delayed for three to four months.”

A number of retirees of Tejarat Bank protested before the central building of this Bank in Tehran.

A number of residents of a district in Dehgolan County, Kurdistan Province, held a protest against mining activities, which have damaged farmlands, and water springs.

On Saturday, August 20, and Sunday, August 21, 2022, at least six protests took place in Iran.

Saturday, August 20

A number of educators recruited in the recruiting plan Mehr Afrain gathered in front of the Ministry of Education to protest against their poor living conditions and ask for the implementation of the educators’ classification plan.

A group of service workers of the Ministry of Education gathered before the Ministry in Tehran to demand the job modification and working as educators as the Ministry had previously approved.

 

The residents of Shadegan, Khuzestan Province, demonstrated in front of the Governor’s office in protest against repeated power outages. Reportedly, some of the protestors gathered in the building to protest.

Sunday, August 21,

The pensioners of the Fulad Pension Fund gathered before the building of this fund in Isfahan to protest against not addressing their issues.

A number of citizens who have purchased apartments in a housing project Fatemieh Yazd protested against breaching the contract rules regarding the allocation of housing units.

A number of Iran-Iraq war veterans held a protest in front of Tehran Municipality.

On Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at least three protests and one labour strike took place in Iran.

The pensioners of the Social Security Organization gathered in Ahvaz and Bandar-Anzali to protest against the insufficient increase in pensions.

In Isfahan, a number of farmers demonstrated to demand for their water portions.

A group of workers of Golgohar Sirjan Mining and Industrial Company went on strike in protest against unpaid wages and not addressing their other issues.

On Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at least five protests took place in Iran.

In Shahrekord, about 500 people rallied in front of the Governor-General’s Office in protest against several-day long water outages. Video published by official media shows the heavy presence of the police and security forces among the crowd.

The retirees of the Homa Airline gathered in front of the company premises to protest against the merger of the company fund and the Civil Servants Pension Organization. Reportedly, the police and security forces blocked the streets led to the location of the protest and arrested several retirees who were going to join the protest.

A number of applicants for the nationwide university entrance exam gathered before the National Organization of Educational Testing to protest against the recently announced modifications in application and exams.

A number of farmers in Isfahan Province gathered before the Water and Waste Water Organization to demand their water portions.

The telecommunication staff from different cities came to Tehran and gathered before the Mobin Trust Consortium building. They asked for the official contracts for all employees who have been recruited by contractors.
