Iran: Three Baha’i Citizens Arrested / One Summoned to Serve Imprisonment

HRANA News Agency – Three Baha’i citizens were arrested in different cities of Iran, one was summoned to serve her imprisonment.

According to the reports by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Anisa Fana’ian, Baha’i citizen from was summoned to serve her 22 month in prison verdict from January 19.

Plain Clothes Agents Opened Fire at 2 Dervishes

HRANA News Agency – On Thursday, November 16, 2011, Security agents attempted to detain two members of Nimatullahi Gonabadi Sufi Sect in Kavar County, Fars Province, Iran, and opened fire at them when the dervishes resisted arrest.

According to a report by Majzooban Nur, Nimatullahi Gonabadi Order website, on Thursday afternoon, while Zabehe Kurdpour and Reza Poshtkar were heading towards the dervishes’ temple in Kavar County, security agents together with plain-clothes officers stopped them and attempted to detain both dervishes.When Zabehe Kurdpour and Reza Poshtkar resisted arrest and tried to escape, security agents opened fire at them.During this incident, no one was injured.

Recently, pressure on Gonabadi dervishes in Kavar County has increased, and more arrests are made continuously such that the members of this religious minority feel more threatened and insecure every day.

A Baha’i Mother Was Arrested With Her Infant to Serve Imprisonment

HRANA News Agency – Mona Majidi, Baha’i citizen from Sangsar was arrested with her infant  to serve her six months imprisonment in Semnan Prison.

According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), intelligence officers arrested Mona Majidi (Ghorbani) with her nine months old infant from her home and transferred them to Semnan Prison to serve her six months imprisonment on Tuesday, December 18, 2012.

HRANA News Agency – mass arrest of Baha’i citizens in Gorgan continues and one more Baha’i citizen, Farhad Eghbali, has been arrested.

According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), one more Baha’i citizen has been arrested on Tuesday, November 20, 2012.

It should be mentioned, in an extended attack by security forces 17 Baha’i citizens were arrested on Wednesday, October 17, 2012. And also four Muslim citizens were arrested related to them.

Two Baha’i Citizens Were Arrested in Karaj

HRANA News Agency – Kamran Gheysari and Afshin Seyed Ahmad, Baha’i citizens from Karaj were arrested by security forces.

According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), security forces arrested Kamran Gheysar, a Baha’i citizen in Karaj from his work place, transferred him to an unknown place on Monday, November 5, 2012. After two days, security forces brought him to his house and searched all his belongings and seized some of his things and left house with him on Wednesday, November 7, 2012.

After 1,000-plus days in jail, Iranian pastor Nadarkhani freed

HRANA News Agency – Iranian pastor Youcef Nadarkhani has been acquitted of apostasy and released, ending a saga that drew international attention and saw him spend more than 1,000 days in jail in the face of a death sentence — simply for being a Christian.

According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) (Sept. 8)  Nadarkhani, in jail since 2009, was acquitted of apostasy — that is, converting from Islam to Christianity — but found guilty of evangelizing Muslims.  Nadarkhani was sentenced to three years in prison for the latter charge but was released due to time already served.
