Kianoosh Cheraghi Sentenced to Prison and Flogging

HRANA – Kianoosh Cheraghi, a resident of Dehloran, has been sentenced by Branch 101 of the Criminal Court Two in this city to 13 months and 16 days in prison and 40 lashes.

This verdict was recently issued by Branch 101 of the Dehloran Criminal Court Two. He was sentenced to 13 months and 16 days in prison, taking into account time previously spent in detention, on the charge of “spreading falsehoods online,” and to 40 lashes for the charge of “insulting officers on duty.”

The ruling stated that publishing critical videos of government officials on Cheraghi’s personal page was considered as evidence of “spreading falsehoods.”

Cheraghi was arrested on Tuesday, June 25, by security forces in Dehloran and transferred to The Ministry of Intelligence’s detention facility in Ilam.

Earlier, in late May this year, he had been released from Darreh Shahr Prison following the suspension of a previous prison sentence in another case. On March 24, 2025, however, he was arrested again to serve his prison term and transferred to Ilam Prison.

Kianoosh Cheraghi, 45, a resident of Dehloran and a former employee of the city’s Social Security Organization, has been sentenced in two separate cases to a combined three years in prison and supplementary punishments.

Kianoosh Cheraghi Arrested by Security Forces in Dehloran

HRANA News Agency – Security forces have arrested Kianoosh Cheraghi, a resident of Dehloran, and transferred him to The Ministry of Intelligence’s detention facility in Ilam, According to Kurdpa.

The arrest took place on June 24 at Cheraghi’s private residence, reportedly without a court warrant, according to a source familiar with the situation. At the time of publication, no information has been released regarding the charges or reasons for his detention.

Cheraghi had previously served time in Darreh Shahr Prison but was released in May following the suspension of his sentence. He had initially been detained on March 24, 2025, to serve a prison term at Ilam Prison.

In two separate cases, Cheraghi was sentenced to a total of three years in prison, along with additional penalties.

The 45-year-old is a former employee of the Social Security Organization in Dehloran.

Appeals Court Upholds 2-Year Prison Sentence for Environmental Activist Arman Shadivand

HRANA News Agency – The Ilam Province Court of Appeals has fully upheld the prison sentence of Arman Shadivand, an environmental activist from Darreh Shahr.

On May 19, 2025, Branch 9 of the appellate court issued the ruling and formally notified Mr. Shadivand. The court sentenced him to 8 months in prison for “propaganda against the regime” and 16 months for “insulting the Supreme Leader.”

Earlier, in February 2025, Branch 2 of the Ilam Revolutionary Court had handed down the same 24-month prison sentence on those charges.

The Darreh Shahr Prosecutor’s Office issued an indictment in Mr. Shadivand’s case and split the file between the Revolutionary and Criminal Courts. Authorities issued two separate court summonses, and Mr. Shadivand attended one of the sessions.

In November 2024, Branch 2 of the Darreh Shahr Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office summoned Mr. Shadivand. Security forces arrested him after he appeared in court, but released him the next day on bail from Mahpareh Prison in Darreh Shahr.

Environmental Activist Arman Shadivand Sentenced to Two Years in Prison

HRANA News Agency – Arman Shadivand, an environmental activist, has been sentenced to two years in prison by the Ilam Revolutionary Court.

The verdict, issued in absentia on January 19 and recently communicated to him, includes eight months in prison for “propaganda against the regime” and 16 months for “insulting the Supreme Leader.” The charges are based on content he posted on his Instagram page. The ruling was handed down by Judge Dariush Piri of Branch 2 of the Ilam Revolutionary Court, located in Darreh Shahr, Ilam Province.

A source close to Shadivand’s family told HRANA: “After the Darreh Shahr Prosecutor’s Office issued the indictment, his case was split into two parts—one referred to the Revolutionary Court and the other to the Criminal Court. Ultimately, two separate summonses were issued, and he attended one of the hearings.”

Shadivand was initially summoned in November 2024 by Branch 2 of the Darreh Shahr Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office to defend himself against charges of acting against national security. He appeared before the court on November 24 and was subsequently arrested. He was released on bail a day later from a prison in Darreh Shahr.

Death Sentence Issued in Ilam

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting Rokna News, Ilam province police commander Delavar al-Qasi-mehr announced the issuance of a sentence for a defendant in Darreh Shahr in Ilam Province.

The commander said that this man, who is accused of killing several of his relatives, a conscripted soldier, and a law enforcement officer in 2020, was sentenced to death three times over by the First Branch of the Criminal Court of Ilam Province.
