10 Citizens Arrested by Security Forces in Hirmand

HRANA News Agency – on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at least ten individuals were arrested by security forces at the Milak border terminal in Hirmand County and transferred to an undisclosed location.

Haal Vsh has confirmed the identities of eight of the detainees as follows:

  • Arash Narooie, approximately 22 years old
  • Arya Narooie, approximately 19 years old
  • Kader Narooie, 43 years old
  • Ashkan Narooie, approximately 19 years old
  • Bahman Abil, 44 years old
  • Mehran Narooie, approximately 22 years old
  • Baset Barahooie, approximately 20 years old
  • Khalegh Sasouli, 43 years old,

According to this report, the individuals were arrested violently and without a judicial warrant by Intelligence Ministry agents at the Milak border terminal in Hirmand County yesterday afternoon.

As of the time of this report, no information is available regarding the reasons for their arrest, their whereabouts, or the charges against them.

Teenager Dies Nine Days After Being Shot by Military Forces in Hirmand

On September 29, 2024, 16-year-old Mohammad Sasuli succumbed to his injuries after being shot by military forces in the border areas of Hirmand County. He had endured nine days of critical condition before passing away.

According to Haal Vsh, Mohammad Sasuli was fatally wounded by indiscriminate gunfire from Border Guard officers. The shooting occurred on Saturday, September 21, when military forces opened fire without issuing a warning or command to stop. Mohammad sustained severe heart injuries and was placed in a coma in the ICU at Amir al-Momenin Hospital in Zabol, where he fought for his life for over a week.

Data collected by the Department of Statistics and Publication of the Human Rights Activists in Iran (HRA) shows that in 2023, 540 citizens were shot at by military forces, resulting in the deaths of 129 individuals. Among the deceased were 29 porters (kolbars), 29 fuel carriers (sukhtbars), and 71 other civilians. Additionally, 411 citizens were injured by indiscriminate shootings, including 353 kolbars, 33 ordinary citizens, and 25 sukhtbars.

Two Civilians Fatally Shot by Military Forces in Sistan and Baluchestan Province

On November 16, two tragic incidents unfolded in the Sistan and Baluchestan Province, where military forces, without warning, fired upon civilians, resulting in fatal outcomes in Hirmand and Iranshahr counties, as reported by Haal Vsh.

In the vicinity of Iranshahr, military forces opened fire on a vehicle traveling on the road, claiming the life of 18-year-old Matin Narui (Narooie) with a gunshot to the head.

In a separate incident on the same day, 45-year-old Amir Safari (Sarani) was fatally shot in the chest in a village within Hirmand County. Responding to a gunshot, he and fellow villagers emerged from their homes, only to be met with gunfire from military forces positioned in a watchtower. Amir Safari, located just 100 meters from his residence, succumbed to the injuries sustained. The family’s inquiries into the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident remain unanswered by local authorities.

Disturbingly, these incidents add to a concerning trend. According to data compiled by the Center of Statistics of Human Rights Activists in Iran (HRA), a total of 845 individuals were shot by military forces in 2022. Of these victims, at least 571 lost their lives, including 22 Kolbar, 9 fuel carriers, and 540 civilians. Additionally, 274 people suffered injuries from military forces’ gunfire, comprising 134 Kolbar, 128 civilians, and 12 fuel carriers. The need for transparent investigations and accountability in these matters is paramount to address the alarming frequency of such incidents.
