Seventeen Prisoners Executed in Various Prisons

HRANA – In the continuing surge of executions across Iran, dozens of prisoners have been executed in various prisons in recent days.

According to HRANA, on Wednesday, November 5, a prisoner named Kiumars Gholami was executed in Gorgan Prison. Mr. Gholami had previously been arrested on murder charges and sentenced to death by a criminal court.

On Saturday, November 8, eight prisoners were executed in several prisons across the country:

In Khorramabad Prison, Yazdan Chegini was executed on murder charges.

Two prisoners were hanged in Kermanshah Prison on murder charges; HRANA has identified one of them as Yaroli Hajizadeh.

In Yasuj Prison, Peyman Ghasemi was executed for murder.

Tabriz Prison saw the execution of three prisoners, Omid Feyzi, Zahra Mirghafari (female), and Ehsan Amini, on drug-related charges.

In Nahavand Prison, Vali Karam-Dastar was executed for murder.

On Sunday, November 9, the wave of executions continued with more prisoners executed in different prisons across Iran:

Hamid Naderi in Andimeshk Prison for murder;

Mehran Hosseinpanah and Ahmad Sajjadi in Arak Prison on drug-related charges;

Abdollah Tajik and an Afghan national in Taybad Prison, both on drug-related charges;

Habib Namazi in Karaj Central Penitentiary for murder;

Two prisoners in Qom Prison on drug-related charges, one of whom HRANA identified only by the surname Beiranvand.

And lastly, today, November 10, Abbas Souri in Dorud Prison was executed on murder charges.

As of the time of this report, none of these executions have been announced by prison officials or relevant authorities.

From the beginning of this year until the end of October, the Iranian regime has executed 1,286 people, marking an unprecedented increase compared to previous years.

Two Prisoners Executed in Kermanshah Prison on Drug-Related Charges

HRANA – At dawn on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, two prisoners previously sentenced to death on drug-related charges were executed in Kermanshah Prison.

HRANA has confirmed the identities of the executed prisoners as Arsalan Khani and Ghasem (last name unknown).

Based on information obtained by HRANA, both men had been arrested on drug-related charges and later sentenced to death by Revolutionary Courts.

As of the time of this report, the executions have not been officially announced by prison authorities or other responsible institutions. According to HRANA reports, in 2024, only 6% of executions were announced by official bodies or domestic media outlets. Over the past five years, 77% of executions have gone unreported – commonly referred to as secret executions. In some of these cases, the lack of transparency is so severe that the death-row prisoners are denied even the chance for a final visit with their families.

From the beginning of this year until the end of September, the Iranian regime has executed 1,028 people, marking an unprecedented increase compared to previous years.

Two Prisoners Executed in Kermanshah Prison for Drug Offenses

HRANA News Agency – On Wednesday, May 28, the death sentences of two prisoners previously convicted on drug-related charges were carried out in Kermanshah Prison.

HRANA has identified the two individuals as Farhad Hosseini and Shahmoradi (first name unknown).
According to information obtained by HRANA, Mr. Hosseini and Mr. Shahmoradi had previously been arrested on drug-related charges and were later sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court.

As of the time of this report, the executions have not been officially announced by prison authorities or relevant institutions.

According to HRANA’s report, in 2024, over 52 percent of executed prisoners had been convicted on drug-related charges. Over the past ten years, individuals convicted of drug trafficking have accounted for 40 percent of all executions. Unfortunately, HRANA’s statistics show no progress in reducing executions for drug-related offenses.

Five Prisoners Executed in Kermanshah Prison

HRANA News Agency – At dawn on Wednesday, February 26, at least five prisoners were executed in Kermanshah Prison. HRANA had previously reported the execution of one of these individuals.

HRANA has confirmed the identities of three of the executed prisoners, who had been sentenced to death on murder charges: Behrooz Safari, Milad Moradi, and Mohammad Fereydouni.

Further details, including the identities of the two other prisoners, who were sentenced to death in separate cases on murder and drug-related charges, are still under investigation by HRANA.

As of the time of this report, prison officials and relevant authorities have not publicly announced these executions.

In 2024, the Department of Statistics and Publication of Human Rights Activists in Iran documented 812 cases related to the right to life, including the sentencing of 214 individuals to death and the execution of 930 individuals. Among these, 4 executions were carried out in public. Of those executed, 818 were male, 26 were female, and 5 were juvenile offenders—individuals under 18 years old at the time of their alleged crimes.

Prisoner Executed in Kermanshah Prison

HRANA News Agency – At dawn today, February 26, the death sentence of a prisoner previously convicted of murder was carried out in Kermanshah Prison.

HRANA has identified the prisoner as Behrooz Safari.

According to information obtained by HRANA, Mr. Safari had been previously arrested on charges of murder and later sentenced to death by the judiciary.

As of the time of this report, prison authorities and relevant institutions have not officially announced this execution.

At least Nine Inmates Executed in Kermanshah, Gorgan and Shiraz

In recent days, the executions of at least nine inmates in prisons across Iran have been reported.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting Kurdpa, on Sunday, June 12, 2022, one inmate identified as Mehdi Kiani who was convicted of murder was executed in Kermanshah Prison.

Also, according to Iran Human Rights Organization, on Monday, June 6, 2022, six inmates who were convicted of rape were executed in Gorgan Prison.

Three of these executed inmates have been identified as Jones Jahantigh, Ali Keykhah and Ali Lakzai. Three years ago, they were arrested and convicted of rape. Reportedly, Ali Keykhah was 18 years old at the time of the arrest and his abetting in crime was restricted to providing other defendants with food. 

Iran Human Rights Organization also reports that on Thursday, June 9, an inmate identified as Baba Sabzi, age 44 who was previously convicted of drug-related crimes was executed in Kermanshah.

The Baloch Activists Campaign reports the execution of an inmate identified as Jomeh Makaki in Shiraz on June 12, 2022. Makaki was a resident of Zahedan who was convicted of drug-related crimes five years ago. According to this report, three other unidentified inmates have also been executed in Shiraz Central Prison.

Five Inmates Executed in Prisons across Iran

On Thursday, June 9, 2022, two inmates convicted of murder were executed in Amol and Kermanshah Prisons. Also, on Wednesday, June 8, the executions of two inmates in Ilam Prison and one in Khalkhal Prison were carried out.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, on Thursday, June 9, 2022, an inmate identified as Javad Amini was executed in Amol Prison in Mazandaran Province.

On the same day, Iran Human Rights Organization reported the execution of an inmate identified as Droud Yousef Beygi, age 33, who was convicted of murder.

Additionally, Haal Vsh reported the execution of an inmate in Khalkhal Prison in Ardabil Province June 8. The inmate was identified as Asghar Hamidi, age 31, and was sentenced to death for murder ten years ago.

Lastly, Kurdpa reported that two inmates identified as Khosro Tarak and Kamal Bayani-Rad in Ilam Prison were executed last Wednesday. The first was sentenced to death seven years ago and the latter five years ago.

None of these executions have been reported by official sources and media outlets inside Iran so far. 

The most recent report from the Statistics and Publication Center of the Human Rights Activists in Iran (HRA) states that between January 1 of 2021 and December 20 of 2021, at least 299 citizens, including four juvenile offenders, were executed. In addition, 85 citizens were sentenced to death in this period. 

As the report points out, Iran’s judicial authorities do not publicly announce over 88% of executions. These unreported executions are known as “secret executions” by human rights organizations.

At Least Eight Inmates Executed this week in Multiple Prisons, Including Qom, Kermanshah and Isfahan

This week, at least eight inmates were executed in multiple prisons, including Qom, Kermanshah and Isfahan.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting Iran Human Rights, two inmates were executed in Kermanshah Prison on Monday, October 11, four inmates were executed in Isfahan on Tuesday, and two others were executed in Qom Prison on Wednesday.

Two inmates who had been convicted of murder were executed in Diezl-Abad Prison in Kermanshah on Monday, October 11. One of the inmates has been identified as 23-year-old Muhammad Latifi. The report suggests that it is likely more inmates were executed on that day than have been confirmed.

Iran Human Rights also has reported the execution of four inmates in Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan. These inmates had been convicted for drug-related crimes.

In another report, on Wednesday, October 13, two inmates, convicted of murder, were executed in Qom Central Prison. One of the inmates has been identified as Ali Amrollahi, a native of Afghanistan. He has been imprisoned since four years ago when he was convicted of “honor killing”.

The most recent report of the Statistics and Publication Center of the Human Rights Activists in Iran (HRA) states that between October 8 of 2020 and October 9 of 2021, at least 266 citizens were executed and 90 citizens were sentenced to death.

As the report points out, Iran’s judicial authorities do not publicly announce over 82% of carried-out executions, dubbed as “secret executions” by human rights organizations.

None of these executions have been announced by official sources in Iran as of this writing.

 

8 prisoners hanged in Kermanshah

HRANA News Agency – 8 prisoners have been hanged on charges of drug trafficking and murder in the Diesel Abad prison in Kermanshah during last week.
