Dana Lenj-Abadi Arrested in Marivan

On February 20, security forces in Marivan, Kurdistan province, apprehended Dana Lenj-Abadi, as reported by Kolbar News.

Subsequently, two days later, Lenj-Abadi’s detention period was extended by one month. He faces charges of “spreading propaganda against the regime,” as stated by the Public and Revolutionary Courthouse.

It is worth noting that Lenj-Abadi has a history of previous arrests, convictions, and educational deprivation due to his activities.

According to data collected by the Department of Statistics and Publication of HRA in 2023, Kurdistan Province accounted for 8.3% of reported human rights violations, including instances of arbitrary detentions.

Five Individuals Detained in Dehdasht

Security forces have apprehended Hamid Dastvaneh, Issa Foroughi, Ali-Mahommad Parisaie, Jamal Asgari, and Mohsen Afranjinan in Dehdasht, located in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad province. This development was reported by Kolbar News.

These arrests occurred over the past three days, with no apparent presentation of arrest warrants by the authorities.

Details regarding the grounds for their detention, their current locations, and the charges brought against them remain undisclosed at this time. It’s worth noting that in recent days, four other Dehdasht residents have also been detained by security forces.

Workers’ Rights Advocate Othman Esmaeili Sentenced to 39-Month Prison Term

In a recent development reported by Kolbar News, workers’ rights activist Othman Esmaeili has been handed a 39-month prison sentence by the Saqqez Revolutionary Court.

Esmaeili’s sentencing comprises seven months and 15 days for “propagating against the regime” and an additional 31 months and 15 days for his alleged involvement as a member of an “anti-regime group.” As per the provisions outlined in Article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code, 31 months and 15 days of his total sentence will be carried out.

Esmaeili was arrested by security forces on February 8, 2023, and subsequently released from Saqez Prison on April 17, 2023. During his period of detention, both legal representation and family visitation were reportedly denied.

It’s worth noting that he has a history of previous arrests and incarceration for his activism.
