One Person Arrested on Espionage Charges in Robat Karim

HRANA – One individual in Robat Karim, Tehran Province, has been arrested by IRGC Intelligence forces on charges of “espionage by sending images of the country’s sensitive centers to opposition groups and foreign media outlets.”

According to Khabar Fori, Robat Karim security officials claimed that the individual was detained on the charge of “espionage through sending images of sensitive national sites to groups opposed to the regime and foreign media.”

It adds that the person was transferred to prison after the arrest.
The report does not provide further details, including the identity of the citizen.

Tehran: Six Citizens Arrested on Charges of Leading Protests and Sending Images to Foreign Media

HRANA – At least six citizens have been arrested in Tehran Province. These individuals, who were detained in counties including Shahriar and Robat Karim, are facing accusations such as leading protests and sending war-related images to foreign media outlets.

According to Tasnim News Agency, at least six citizens were arrested in Tehran Province. The social deputy of the West Tehran Province Law Enforcement Command stated that four of these citizens were arrested in Robat Karim, adding: “They are among the elements linked to foreign-based networks and protest leaders in Robat Karim County.” He further claimed that a quantity of cold and firearms weapons was discovered from these citizens.

He also noted that one person was arrested in Andisheh, a city in Shahriar County, and had played a “central role” during the January 2026 protests.

The police official further stated that “public security police officers in western Tehran Province arrested another individual who had, by sending messages to Iran International, explicitly supported a U.S. military attack on Iran.”

The report does not provide further details regarding the identities of those arrested, the exact date and place of arrest, or where they are being held.

It is worth noting that gatherings and strikes by shopkeepers and bazaar merchants began in Tehran on Sunday, 28 December 2025, and after two days spread beyond markets and commercial centers. With the participation of students, ordinary citizens, and various social groups, these protests became one of the broadest protest waves in recent years. Following the crackdown by law enforcement and security forces, thousands were killed or injured, and tens of thousands more were arrested or summoned by security institutions.

At Least 67 Citizens Arrested in Connection with the War

HRANA – Domestic media outlets have reported that at least 67 citizens have been arrested in connection with the war: one in Robat Karim, two in Naein, ten in Tabriz, and 54 in the provinces of Tehran, Gilan, Fars, and Kermanshah.

According to Ham-Mihan, the Robat Karim prosecutor claimed that a citizen who had “recorded and sent footage expressing happiness over the attack on the Saba Battery factory to foreign media outlets” was identified and arrested.

In another report, Ham-Mihan announced that 10 citizens were arrested in Tabriz by police forces. According to the report, these individuals had allegedly been “sending information about the locations of security forces, as well as images and videos of projectile impact sites, to foreign media outlets.” It is further claimed that four of them were arrested on charges of espionage for countries involved in the war, including the United States and Israel.

Separately, Mehr News Agency reported that two citizens were arrested in Naein County. The Naein police commander stated that two citizens who had been “communicating with and sending information to foreign media outlets” were identified and detained.

In another report, IRIB News announced that 54 citizens were arrested in four provinces by the Ministry of Intelligence. According to the Ministry, 41 were arrested in Tehran, five in Fars Province, and eight in Gilan and Kermanshah Provinces.

According to this report, these individuals were arrested on allegations including “communication with countries involved in the war and opposition groups, intent to carry out terrorist acts, sending images of missile strike locations, filming and photographing such sites, and sending the material to Iran International.”

The same report added that during the arrests, authorities allegedly discovered and seized several homemade bombs, bladed weapons, a handgun, three organizational communication devices, one pistol, and one Starlink satellite internet device.

The reports did not provide further details, including the identities of those arrested, the exact dates and locations of the arrests, or where they are being held.

Civil Activist Yashar Tabrizi Arrested By Security Forces in Tehran

On January 8, civil activist Yashar Tabrizi was arrested by security police agents and transferred to Robat-Karim Detention Center. Earlier on that day, he had published a post on social media from his visit to the Ukraine plane crash site in memorial of the victims.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, Tabrizi has faced other arrests by security forces. On April 7, 2021, he was arrested for one day in Isfahan along with some victims’ families of the crashed Ukrainian plane as well as other civil activists.

An informed source told HRANA that, “at 7 A.M., Mr Tabrizi called his family and told them that he was detained in the detention centre in Robat-Karim. He was arrested by the order of the prosecutor and would be released after a few hours. At 11 a.m., his wife went to Robat-Karim Detention Center and they confirmed that he was there”.

On 8 January 2020, Ukrainian International Airlines Flight 752 was shot down by IRGC’s missile shortly after takeoff from Tehran Imam Khomeini International Airport. After a few days of covering up the cause of this incident, the regime admitted that the plane was hit by a missile shot from an anti-missile defense base.
