According to HRANA, Babak Eslami Farsani’s conviction has been upheld on appeal.
Under the ruling, issued on October 18, 2026, the Tehran Province Court of Appeals upheld the attorney’s nine-month prison sentence on the charge of “propaganda activities against the regime through cyberspace,” without modification.
The court’s ruling cites a report by the Director General of the Intelligence Department of Markazi Province, along with content published by the attorney online, among the evidence supporting the verdict.
The sentence was initially issued against Mr. Eslami Farsani on August 2, 2026, by Branch 23 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court.
In June 2026, he was summoned to Branch 4 of the Investigation Office of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office of District 33 in Tehran.
Babak Eslami Farsani, an attorney, previously represented the family of Mehrshad Shahidi, who was killed during the 2022 protests in Arak. In connection with his representation of the family, a judicial case had been opened against him at the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office in Arak.
