Attorney Bahareh Aghaei Sentenced to 20 Years in Prison

HRANA – Bahareh Aghaei, an attorney currently held in Qarchak Prison in Varamin, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison by Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court.

According to HRANA, attorney Bahareh Aghaei has been sentenced to prison.

Based on information received by HRANA, Aghaei was recently sentenced to 20 years in prison by Branch 26 of the , presided over by Judge , on charges including “propaganda activities against national security,” under Article 4 of the Law on Intensifying Punishments for Crimes Against National Security.

was arrested following the January 2026 protests and subsequently transferred to Qarchak Prison in Varamin. During her detention, she was held in solitary confinement at the prison for at least 15 days.

Bahareh Aghaei is a licensed attorney and a student of international law at the University of Tehran.
