Naser Balouch Arrested in Zahedan Following Makki Mosque Incident

On July 17, Naser Balouch, a 24-year-old scholar at Makki Mosque, was apprehended by security forces in Zahedan, as reported by Haal Vsh.

Balouch, a resident of Qasr-e Qand in Sistan and Baluchestan province, was forcefully arrested by the agents in a street of Zahedan. The location of his detention and the specific allegations against him remain undisclosed.

It is worth noting that in recent days, several individuals have been detained in connection with the Makki Mosque incident. Security personnel at Makki Grand Mosque apprehended an individual who was allegedly tasked by the IRGC with carrying out a terrorist act involving the poisoning of Molavi Abdolhamid.

In response to this thwarted terror attempt, the provincial Chief Justice has urged the security personnel of Makki Grand Mosque to provide supporting evidence for these allegations. Failure to do so may result in legal consequences.

Multiple Individuals Arrested in Connection to Makki Grand Mosque Incident

According to Tasnim, a security-affiliated news agency, a number of individuals have been arrested in relation to the Makki Grand Mosque incident. These individuals are said to have been apprehended for their alleged involvement in uncovering a plot to poison Abdolhamid Ismaeelzah (aka Molavi Abdolhamid), the Zahedan Imam of Friday Prayer and spiritual leader for Iranian Sunnis.

They are facing legal actions for charges of “spreading falsehood and disturbing public opinion.” Recent reports from media outlets like Haal Vsh, which covers incidents of human rights violations in Sistan and Baluchestan Province, have highlighted that the security personnel at Makki Grand Mosque apprehended an individual who was allegedly commissioned by the IRGC to carry out a terrorist act involving the poisoning of Molavi Abdolhamid.

In response to this thwarted terror attempt, the provincial Chief Justice has called for the security personnel of Makki Grand Mosque to provide evidence supporting these allegations, otherwise facing legal consequences.
Consequently, security forces have arrested several individuals who are relatives or close associates of Molavi Abdolhamid, including his grandson, Abolnasir Shahbaksh, and a 23-year-old cameraman named Osameh Shahbaksh, who works at the Mosque. Both individuals’ residences have been searched by security forces.

Escalating Intimidation Targets Families of 2022 Protest Victims in Iran

HRANA, Human Rights Activists News Agency – Over the past month, the Iranian security and judicial institutions have intensified their crackdown on the families of victims of the 2022 nationwide protests.

They have employed various tactics, including summoning, arresting, prosecuting, and discouraging them from holding commemoration ceremonies for their deceased loved ones. Additionally, reports indicate instances of grave desecration.

Arrests and Judicial Interference

On April 20, 2023, Hossein and Mehdi Kazemi, brothers of Majid Kazemi, one of three executed convicts in the “Isfahan House” case, were reportedly arrested and subjected to physical assault at their home. Following their arrest, Majid Kazemi’s sister, Somayeh Kazemi, was also detained while inquiring about her brothers’ well-being.

Somayeh Kazemi was released on May 22, while Hossein and Mehdi Kazemi were granted bail and released on June 18.

Furthermore, on June 16, relatives of teenager Abolfazl Adinehzadeh, who was killed during the protests, were arrested in Mashhad. The arrested individuals included Abolfazl’s mother, Goldasteh Hosseini Jahanabad, his father, Ali Adienzadeh, his sister, Marzieh Adinezadeh, and his uncles, Reza and Musa Adienzadeh, who faced violent arrests. Subsequently, Ali and Reza Adinezadeh were transferred to Shirvan Prison, while Marzieh and her mother were taken to Bojnurd Prison. They were later released on bail between June 18 and June 21.

Abolfazl Adinezadeh was fatally shot by regime forces during the 2022 nationwide protests in Mashhad, reportedly sustaining 25 bullets to his chest and abdomen.

In Saqqez, several people were arrested on June 9 following a protest rally at the burial site of another teenage victim, Danial Pabandi. Among those detained were the families of several victims and the drivers of two minibuses transporting the families to the cemetery. Some of the detainees were released on bail the day after their arrest.

On June 17, 2023, Sajad Pirfalak, the uncle of Kian Pirfalak, a minor who tragically lost his life during the 2022 nationwide protests, was apprehended by security forces in Izeh. He was subsequently taken to the detention facility of the Ministry of Intelligence.

The following day, Kian Pirfalak’s mother, Mahmonir Molaie-Rad, was summoned to the Ministry of Intelligence office in Izeh.

On April 11, 2023, security forces arrested Foad Choobin in Izeh. Foad’s nephew, Artin Rahmani, was killed by regime forces during the 2022 nationwide protests in Izeh.

Grave Desecrations and Disruption of Memorial Ceremonies

Reports have surfaced concerning the desecration of several graves belonging to protest victims. Within the past month, at least four graves, including those of Majid Kazemi, Mohsen Shakari, and Sepher Azami, were destroyed or set on fire.

Ashkan Amini, the brother of Mahsa Amini, shared news of the desecration of his sister’s burial place for the second time. The Saqqez Municipality has allegedly planned to carry out reconstruction at the cemetery where Mahsa Amini is buried, seemingly as an attempt to prevent gatherings and commemoration ceremonies. In protest against these malicious actions, traders and shopkeepers in Saqqez went on a general strike on June 13, 2023, closing their shops.

Majid Kazemi’s family was reportedly prevented from holding his funeral, with heavy security presence around his grave. Kazemi’s grave was set on fire on June 7th, the day his family had planned to hold a memorial service.

Similarly, the family of Kian Pirfalek faced an intense security presence and threats during a memorial ceremony at the burial place.
The families of Mohsen Shekari and Sepehr Azami, two victims of the 2022 nationwide protests, have also reported the desecration of their loved one grave.

Majid Kazemi’s family faced impediments when attempting to hold his funeral, with heavy security presence surrounding his grave. On June 7, the day of the planned memorial service, Kazemi’s grave was set on fire.

Likewise, Kian Pirfalak’s family encountered intense security presence and threats during a memorial ceremony at his burial site.

The families of Masoud Shekari and Sepehr Azami, two victims of the 2022 nationwide protests, have also reported the desecration of their loved ones’ graves.

It is important to note that the Iranian regime and its security forces have a history of desecrating dissidents’ burial places.

Violence Against Protestors’ Families

During a ceremony held on June 11, 2023, to commemorate Kian Pirfalak’s birthday, police fatally shot a citizen. The victim, Pouya Molaie-Rad, approximately 20 years old, was the cousin of Kian Pirfalak’s mother. Multiple sources have reported multiple arrests made by the police during the ceremony.

IRNA confirmed that Molaie-Rad succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at the hospital.
Fars News Agency, associated with security institutions, claimed that a police officer named Mohammad Ghanbari also lost his life, allegedly after being struck by a car.

Background on the 2022 Nationwide Protests

The arrest of Mahsa Amini by Tehran Morality Police for her improper hejab and her suspicious death on September 16 sparked protests sweeping across Iran. During the nationwide protests, about 19600 people, including journalists, artists, lawyers, teachers, students and civil rights activists, were arrested.

Tragic Incident Leaves Four Sukhtbars Dead and Two Injured in Military Forces Shooting

On June 13, 2023, a devastating incident unfolded in Isfahan Province as military forces opened fire on three vehicles, resulting in the loss of four lives and injuries to two individuals.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting Rasank News, the military forces targeted the vehicles along the road connecting Jandaq to Khur in Isfahan Province. Tragically, the vehicles were engulfed in flames, claiming the lives of four Sukhtbars (Cross-Border Fuel Carriers) and leaving two others injured, who were subsequently hospitalized.

The two injured Sukhtbars have been identified as Senaollah Sargolzaie and Saeed Kubdani, both residents of Zahedan and only 20 years old. The report does not provide information regarding the identities of the four individuals who lost their lives in this incident.

According to HRANA annual report, in 2022, 845 people were shot by military forces. At least 571 of the victims lost their life. This includes 22 kolbars, 9 fuel carriers, and 540 civilians. 274 people were injured by military forces open fire, including 134 kolbars, 128 civilians, and 12 fuel carriers.

 

Mohammad Tavili Toroghi Arrested in Mashhad

HRANA, Human Rights Activists News Agency-On May 31, 2023, Mohammad Tavili Toroghi, age 35, was subjected to an arbitrary arrest in Mashhad by security forces. He was subsequently transferred to a detention facility.

According to a reliable source who spoke to HRANA, IRGC Intelligence apprehended him on a street in Mashhad. The source stated that Tavili is a family member of an Iran-Iraq war martyr.

Presently, the motive behind this arrest and the specific allegations against him remain undisclosed.

Faryad Hama-Shour Receives 12-Year Prison Sentence

On May 31, 2023, Faryad Hama-Shour, a resident of Oshnavieh, had his 12-year prison sentence confirmed by the West Azerbaijan Court of Appeals, according to a report by Kurdpa.

Pursuant to Article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code, he will serve a mandatory five-year term.

Initially, on November 10, 2022, the Oshnavieh Criminal Court sentenced Hama-Shour to five years in prison for his alleged involvement in an anti-regime political party. Additionally, he was given a four-year sentence for purportedly assisting in setting fire to a bank in Oshnavieh, and three years for defying authority by using weapons. Presiding over the case, Judge Ali Hassanzadeh upheld this verdict at the West Azerbaijan Court of Appeals.

Hama-Shour was arrested on September 27, 2022, without showing an arrest warrant, by security forces who subsequently detained him in Urmia Prison.

 

Two Women Detained by IRGC Intelligence in Mashhad

HHRANA, Human Rights Activists News Agency – In Mashhad, Ghazaleh Baghernia and Taktam Nowruzi were apprehended by security forces and subsequently transferred to a detention facility in this city.

According to a reliable source who spoke to HRANA, Baghernia was taken into custody on May 24, while Nowruzi was arrested on May 29. The arrests took place on a street in Mashhad by agents of the IRGC Intelligence. Baghernia was allowed to make a phone call to her family, revealing that she is currently being held in solitary confinement at the detention facility.

The reasons behind their detention and the specific charges against them remain undisclosed at this time.

Behrooz Izadi Rad Arrested in Gorgan

Behrooz Izadi Rad was arrested by security forces in Gorgan on May 15, 2023, according to HRANA, the Human Rights Activists News Agency.

Izadi Rad was reportedly arrested at his residence in Gorgan. The exact location of his detention remains undisclosed, and the reason for his arrest has not been disclosed either.

In September 2022, amid nationwide protests, security forces arrested Izadi Rad in Golestan Prison and, after a while, jailed him in Amirabad Prison in Gorgan.

On December 19, 2022, the Revolutionary Court sentenced Izadi Rad to four years and one month in prison. However, due to his no-contest plea, his sentence was reduced to nine months for “propaganda against the regime” and 25 months for “inciting people to unrest,” totaling two years and ten months, including the time already served.

Following five months of imprisonment, Izadi Rad was released in February 2023 under the “pardon and commutation” directive. It’s worth noting that he has a history of previous arrests and convictions related to his activism.

 

 

Shahab Nazari Arrested in Ahvaz

Security forces arrested Shahab Nazari, a resident of Izeh, in Ahvaz and took him to an undisclosed location.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, on April 29, 2023, Shahab Nazari, age 22, was arrested by security forces in Ahvaz.

An informed source close to Nazari’s family told HRANA that he was arrested at 10:00 pm at his uncle’s residence in Ahvaz.

The reason for his arrest, the location of his detention and the allegations against him are currently unknown.

 

Forty Administrators of Instagram Pages Arrested in Tehran

Iranian Cyber Police have announced the arrest of 40 administrators of Instagram pages for modeling and online apparel shops on charges of allegedly publishing “half-naked or immodest pictures of women.”

According to HRANA, a news agency for human rights activists, quoting Entekhab News Outlet, 40 individuals were arrested in Tehran.

The chief of the Tehran Cyber Police revealed that those arrested operated Instagram pages for Mezon, modeling, and online shops.
This police official stated that they had published pictures of immodest and half-naked women without regard for privacy rights, solely to make profits and attract followers.

The detainees have been charged and a legal case has been opened against them. The report did not disclose their identities.
