HRANA – On the evening of Wednesday, July 8, Faroud Veisi and Farhad Ghafourizadeh, two residents of Kermanshah, were arrested by security forces in the city and taken to an undisclosed location. They are relatives of Meysam and Mojtaba Veisi, who were killed in connection with the 2026 nationwide protests.
According to HRANA, citing Kolbar News, Faroud Veisi and Farhad Ghafourizadeh have been arrested.
According to the report, the two men were detained by security forces on a street in Kermanshah on the evening of Wednesday, July 8, and subsequently transferred to an undisclosed location. Faroud Veisi is the brother of Meysam and Mojtaba Veisi, while Farhad Ghafourizadeh is their cousin.
Their arrests reportedly coincided with the family’s preparations to hold memorial and 40th-day commemoration ceremonies for Meysam and Mojtaba Veisi.
As of the time of writing, no information has been made available regarding the charges against the two men.
Meysam and Mojtaba Veisi, followers of the Yarsan faith, had been pursued by security forces in connection with the 2026 nationwide protests. On the morning of Thursday, May 28, 2026, they were fatally shot by the IRGC intelligence agents in a village in Dalahoo County.
It should be noted that protests and strikes by shopkeepers and bazaar merchants began in Tehran on Sunday, December 28, 2025, and within two days spread beyond markets and commercial centers. With the participation of students, citizens, and various social groups, these protests became one of the largest protest movements of recent years.
