Reza Kooshki-Nejad Sentenced to Imprisonment and Other Punishments

HRANA – Reza Kooshki-Nejad has been sentenced by Branch 1 of the Khorramabad Revolutionary Court to one year in prison, two years of internal exile to the city of Birjand, and additional supplementary punishments.

Branch 1 of the Khorramabad Revolutionary Court sentenced Mr. Kooshki-Nejad on charges of “propaganda against the regime” and “publishing photos, images, and content deemed contrary to public morality through sharing images and inciting people to disrupt public security in cyberspace” to one year in prison and two years of exile to the city of Birjand. As a supplementary punishment, he was also ordered to study and review documents related to SAVAK records and submit a handwritten report to the Khorramabad sentence enforcement branch. The verdict was issued and formally communicated to him on May 2, 2026.

This citizen was arrested in late September 2025 by judicial order and was released from Khorramabad Central Prison on October 7, 2025.

Reza Kooshki-Nejad, aged approximately 35, and one of the detainees of the 2022 nationwide protests, has previously faced arrest and convictions due to his activities.

Reza Kooshki-Nejad Arrested

HRANA – Reza Kooshki-Nejad has been arrested.

On Sunday, September 28, 2025, his brother, Hossein Kooshki-Nejad, announced in a public post that Reza had been arrested. This citizen had previously reported on social media that a legal case had been opened against him.

As of the time of this report, no information is available regarding the reasons for his arrest, the charges against him, or his place of detention.

Reza Kooshki-Nejad, a resident of Lorestan, was previously arrested and convicted for his activities. He is also among those detained during the 2022 nationwide protests.

In 2024, a total of 2,783 Iranian citizens were arrested by security and judicial authorities due to their beliefs, opinions, or political and civil activities. Over the past decade, the number of such arrests has exceeded 56,000. The highest number of arrests occurred in 2022, during the nationwide protests, when HRANA documented 23,977 detentions.

Hossein Kooshki Nejad Begins One-Year Prison Term in Evin Prison

On April 7, 2024, Hossein Kooshki Nejad commenced his one-year prison term in Evin Prison. His brother, Reza, who was detained during the 2022 nationwide protests, is currently serving a two-year sentence in Ilam prison.

According to reports obtained by HRANA, Kooshki Nejad faced legal action last year in the Courthouse in Khorramabad, accused of the political charge of “propaganda against the regime.” The Tehran Revolutionary Court subsequently took over the case and sentenced him to one year in prison.

Kooshki Nejad stated that the beginning of his sentence had been postponed until April 7.
