HRANA – At dawn today, October 5, Alireza Raisi, one of those arrested during the January 2026 protests and one of the individuals sentenced to death in the case known as the “Isfahan Alikhani Square” case, was executed at Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan.

Based on information obtained by HRANA, Alireza Raisi was executed at dawn today, Monday, October 5, 2026, at Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan.

An informed source close to the Raisi family told HRANA about the hours leading up to the execution, saying that Mr. Raisi met with his family for the final time on Sunday, October 4. At the end of the visit, he refused to part from his family, and prison authorities and officers ultimately separated him from them by force. According to the source, members of his family also gathered outside Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan last night, seeking information about his situation.

Mr. Raisi’s death sentence was carried out at the same time as that of Alireza Sepahi, another defendant in the case.

Alireza Raisi had previously been sentenced to death along with several other defendants in the case known as the “Isfahan Alikhani Square” case. At the trial-court stage, 15 defendants in the case were sentenced to death. According to information provided by an attorney, the sentence of one defendant was overturned by a higher judicial authority, while the death sentences of the other 14 defendants were upheld.

HRANA had previously confirmed the identities of several individuals sentenced in this case.
