Mohammad Amin Akhlaghi Attempts Suicide in Vakilabad Prison

HRANA News Agency – Mohammad Amin Akhlaghi Savojbolaghi, one of the defendants in the case known as the “Killing of Basij Member Ruhollah Ajamian,” attempted suicide while serving his prison sentence in Vakilabad Prison, Mashhad.

His brother announced in a social media post yesterday that following the suicide attempt, Akhlaghi was kept under inadequate medical care for 24 hours. He emphasized that Akhlaghi is in critical physical and mental condition and is unable to withstand further imprisonment.

Akhlaghi was arrested in Karaj during the 2022 nationwide protests in connection with the case involving the death of Ruhollah Ajamian, a Basij member.

In January 2023, the Supreme Court upheld the death sentences of two defendants in this case while overturning the convictions of 14 others, referring their cases to a parallel court for retrial. On January 7, 2023, the death sentences of Mohammad Mehdi Karami and Seyed Mohammad Hosseini were carried out.

In late August 2023, following the Supreme Court’s approval of his conviction, Akhlaghi was transferred to Mashhad Prison to serve his sentence. Earlier that year, Branch 1 of the Karaj Revolutionary Court had sentenced him to five years in prison.

Previously, the Chief Justice of Alborz Province had announced that the charges against three defendants in this case—Behrad Ali Kenari, Javad Zargaran, and Reza Shaker Zavardeh—had been revised, leading to their inclusion in a general amnesty and subsequent release.

Over 110 Days in Limbo: Mohammad Loveimi’s Case Remains Unclear

HRANA News Agency – Mohammad Loveimi, a political detainee, has been held in uncertainty at Sheiban Prison in Ahvaz for nearly four months since his arrest, with no clear charges or legal proceedings in sight.

A source familiar with his case confirmed to HRANA: “More than 110 days have passed since Mr. Loveimi’s arrest, yet he remains in legal limbo at Sheiban Prison in Ahvaz. There is still no information about the reasons for his detention or the charges against him, and authorities have not allowed his release on bail.”

According to information obtained by HRANA, Mohammad Loveimi was arrested by security forces in November 2024 and transferred to Ward 5 of Sheiban Prison in Ahvaz.

Earlier in 2024, Loveimi had been released from the same prison after completing a nine-month sentence.

Prisoner Executed in Kermanshah Prison

HRANA News Agency – At dawn today, February 26, the death sentence of a prisoner previously convicted of murder was carried out in Kermanshah Prison.

HRANA has identified the prisoner as Behrooz Safari.

According to information obtained by HRANA, Mr. Safari had been previously arrested on charges of murder and later sentenced to death by the judiciary.

As of the time of this report, prison authorities and relevant institutions have not officially announced this execution.

In 2024, the Department of Statistics and Publication of Human Rights Activists in Iran documented 812 cases related to the right to life, including the sentencing of 214 individuals to death and the execution of 930 individuals. Among these, 4 executions were carried out in public. Of those executed, 818 were male, 26 were female, and 5 were juvenile offenders—individuals under 18 years old at the time of their alleged crimes.

At Least Three Prisoners Executed in Ghezel Hesar Prison

HRANA News Agency –Today, February 26, 2025, Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj witnessed the execution of at least three prisoners. Among them, two were sentenced to death in separate murder cases, while the third was executed on charges of moharebeh (enmity against God) through direct involvement in an armed robbery.

HRANA has identified two of the executed individuals as Mosayeb Azizi from Arak and Sajad Eghbali from Kuhdasht, Lorestan province. Both had previously been arrested in separate murder cases and sentenced to death by the judiciary.

The identity of the third executed prisoner has not yet been confirmed. However, he had been sentenced to death on charges of moharebeh through direct involvement in an armed robbery. The Judiciary’s media center has released details of his case.

According to Mizan News, in September 2022, police officers patrolling the area grew suspicious of two motorcyclists. When the suspects attempted to flee, officers opened fire, eventually stopping and arresting them. Weapons were discovered in their possession, and they later confessed to carrying out a series of “violent robberies.” One of the suspects was sentenced to death, and after the Supreme Court upheld the verdict, the execution was carried out this morning.

Prisoner Executed in Birjand Prison for Drug-Related Offenses

HRANA News Agency – At dawn today, February 26, 2025, a prisoner sentenced to death on drug-related charges was executed in Birjand Prison.

HRANA has identified this prisoner as Abdollah Safarzehi, a father of one. He was arrested five years ago on charges of drug trafficking and possession of firearms and was later sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court.

As of the time of this report, prison officials and relevant authorities have not publicly announced the execution.

Prisoner Executed in Adelabad Prison, Shiraz

HRANA News Agency – At dawn on Monday, February 24, 2025, a prisoner who had been sentenced to death on murder charges was executed in Adelabad Prison in Shiraz.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists in Iran, the identity of the executed prisoner has been confirmed as Yousef Rostami, a resident of Khorramabad. He had previously been sentenced to death by judicial authorities on murder charges.

As of the time of this report, prison officials and relevant authorities have not publicly announced the execution.

According to HRANA’s data, Adelabad Prison in Shiraz carried out 85 executions in 2024, marking a 73% increase compared to the previous year. Ghezel Hesar Prison: Update on Mehdi Hemmati, a Detainee from the 2022 Protests

HRANA News Agency – Mehdi Hemmati, a Tehran resident arrested during the 2022 nationwide protests, is currently serving his sentence in Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj. He was previously sentenced by Tehran’s Revolutionary and Criminal Courts to more than six years in prison and 30 lashes.

According to HRANA, Hemmati was sentenced by Branch 15 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Abolghasem Salavati, to five years in prison on charges of “assembly and collusion to commit a crime against national security.” In a separate ruling, Branch 1147 of the Tehran Criminal Court sentenced him to 10 months for “disrupting public order” and an additional five months in prison, along with 30 lashes, for “possession of explosives.”

His Revolutionary Court sentence has been sent to Branch 36 of the Tehran Court of Appeals, while the Criminal Court’s ruling was upheld by Branch 34 of the Appeals Court.

Hemmati was arrested alongside four others during the 40th-day memorial service for Mahsa (Jina) Amini in Tehran. The group was initially detained at an IRGC facility in Tehran, where they were subjected to torture and denied access to legal counsel. They were later transferred to Ghezel Hesar Prison. During their interrogation, they faced multiple charges, including “disrupting public order,” “possession of explosives,” and “complicity in the murder of Amir Kamandi,” a member of the IRGC Ground Forces.

In the final indictment, Hemmati was acquitted of all murder-related charges. Before his trial, authorities set his bail at one billion tomans, but case officers opposed his release.

A source close to Hemmati’s family told HRANA that he is a 38-year-old unmarried resident of Tehran. “He suffers from multiple health conditions and has been denied medical care,” the source said.

Nayereh Behnoud Sentenced to Five Years in Prison

HRANA News Agency – Nayereh Behnoud, a political prisoner held in Evin Prison, has been sentenced to five years in prison by the Tehran Revolutionary Court.

According to HRANA, the news agency of the Human Rights Activists in Iran, Behnoud was sentenced to imprisonment on charges including “propaganda against the regime” and “assembly and collusion through membership in opposition groups.”

A source familiar with her case confirmed the news to HRANA, stating, “Ms. Behnoud has submitted a request for compliance with the verdict and is currently awaiting the court’s response.”

Nayereh Behnoud was arrested by security forces in Tehran in September of 2024.

Following approximately one month of interrogation at the Ministry of Intelligence’s detention facility, known as Ward 209 of Evin Prison, she was transferred to the women’s ward of the prison on October 21, 2024.

Dehdasht Protests: Judiciary Spokesperson Confirms Arrest of 12 Individuals

HRANA News Agency – The spokesperson for Iran’s Judiciary has confirmed the arrest of 12 citizens in Dehdasht, stating that they have been charged with “disrupting public order.” On the night of Tuesday, February 11, protests erupted in the city, during which several individuals were detained. HRANA had previously identified 12 of those arrested.

According to HRANA, quoting Entekhab, Judiciary spokesperson Asghar Jahangir claimed that the arrests were related to a “local conflict between two clans” and reiterated that the detainees were charged with “disrupting public order in the city.”

Without disclosing their identities, Jahangir added that one of the detainees is a foreign national and that their cases are under investigation.

Protests and Heavy Security Presence

On the night of February 11, residents of Dehdasht staged a protest, chanting anti-government slogans in response to mounting economic and social grievances in the region. In the aftermath of the demonstration, authorities intensified security measures, leading to widespread arrests and a heavy security presence across the city.

Among them, Ahmad Noormohammadi has been accused of leading the protests and is currently being held at the IRGC Intelligence detention facility.

Violent Arrests and Use of Force

According to HRANA’s sources, IRGC intelligence agents opened fire on the vehicle of Shahram Nooranian and Shahriar Heshmat-Nasab during their arrest in Tang Pirza, Kohgiluyeh County.

A source close to one of the detainees’ families told HRANA:

“Shahram and Shahriar were violently arrested and beaten. Their families have had no information about their whereabouts since their detention and are deeply concerned for their well-being.”

Three Prisoners Executed in Dastgerd Prison, Isfahan

HRANA News Agency – At dawn on Saturday, February 22, authorities in Dastgerd Prison, Isfahan, executed three prisoners who had been sentenced to death on charges of murder and drug-related offenses.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists in Iran, the executed individuals have been identified as Ahmad Hanafi, a resident of Taybad village in Razavi Khorasan Province, Asghar Dehghani, a resident of Isfahan, and Vahid Mohebi.

Hanafi and Dehghani had been convicted on drug-related charges, while Mohebi was sentenced to death for murder.

As of the time of this report, prison officials and relevant authorities have not publicly announced the executions.
