Rapper Toomaj Salehi Arrested

On October 30, 2022, Rapper Toomaj Salehi was arrested by security forces.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting Rokna, famous protest rapper Toomaj Salehi was arrested.

Rokna claimed, “Salehi was inciting people and published fake news in recent weeks.”

Salehi has faced other arrests and convictions on a prior occasion. On September 12, 2021, Salehi was arrested by security forces at his home and nine days later, released on bond from Dastgerd Prison.

On January 12, 2022, he was sentenced to six months in prison and a fine. The imprisonment was suspended for one year. In the trial, he was exonerated from the charge of “provoking violence and insurrection”.

 

At Least 30 Individuals Arrested at Protests in Behbahan

On October 26, security forces arrested at least 30 individuals in Behbahan at the protests. At least five of them are under the age of 18.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, at least 30 people, including five minors, were arrested by security forces in Behbahan, Khuzestan Province.

HRANA has identified some of them as Kian Salehi (a school student), Danial Bagherpour, Reza Fardad, Hesam Bahmani Nejad, Maziar Nourinejad, Maryam Kazemi, Maryam Payab, Mardani (female, first names unidentified) and Abbasi (female, first names unidentified).
 
The reason for these arrests and the charges are still unknown.

 

 

Rapper Emad Ghavidel Arrested

On October 26, security forces arrested social rap singer Emad Ghavidel in Rasht, Gilan Province.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, on October 26, rapper Emad Ghavidel was arrested at his workplace in Rasht.

The reason for his arrest and whereabouts are still unknown.

Women’s Rights Activist Raoofeh Mirbagheri Arrested

On October 26, 2022, IRGC intelligence agents arrested women’s rights activist Raoofeh Mirbagheri in Tonekabon and transferred her to an undisclosed location.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, on October 26, 2022, women’s rights activist Raoofeh Mirbagheri was arrested in Tonekabon, Mazandaran Province.

The reason for this arrest and her whereabouts are unknown as of yet.

Nationwide Protests: 209 People Indicted in Semnan, West Azerbaijan and Kerman Provinces

The Chief Justice of Semnan, West Azerbaijan and Kerman Provinces announced that 89, 95 and 25 protestors were indicted, respectively.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting Aftab News, the Chief Justice of Semnan stated that 89 people arrested during the nationwide protests were indicted.

Also, the Chief Justice of West Azerbaijan Province stated that 95 individuals were indicted, and the rest is under review.
 
Moreover, IRNA, quoting the Chief Justice of Kerman, reported the indictment of 25 individuals as ” protest leaders” in Kerman Province.

At Least Fifteen Physicians Arrested at a Protest

On October 26, security forces arrested at least 15 physicians in a protest in front of the Medical Council in Tehran.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, on October 26, the police and security forces cracked down on physicians’ protest gathering in Tehran and arrested at least 15 physicians.
 
Yesterday, on the 40th day of Mahsa Amini’s death, several physicians joined the nationwide protests and held a demonstration before Medical Council in Tehran.

Also, last Monday, October 24, physician Mehran Fereidooni, working in forensics, was arrested in Shiraz. He had previously announced, “Medical Council’s physicians do not verify what the regime officials have mentioned as the cause of Mahsa’s Amini death.”

 

 

Poet Hesam Pirasteh Arrested in Sari

On October 26, in Sari, IRGC intelligence summoned poet Hesam Pirasteh and arrested him after his appearance at the office. He is a master’s student of philosophy at the University of Tehran.

An informed source told HRANA that the Tehran IRGC intelligence called Pirasteh to leave Tehran otherwise he would be arrested. He went to Sari where he was summoned and arrested.

Pirasteh faced other arrest on a prior occasion.

 

 

Baha’i Individual Leili Karami Arrested in Shiraz

On October 26, 2022, security forces arrested Baha’i citizen Leily Karami at her house in Shiraz and transferred her to a detention facility known as House No 100. The agents searched her home and confiscated some of her personal belongings.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, Baha’i citizen Leily Karami was arrested at her house in Shiraz.

The reason for her arrest and the charge is still unknown.

 

 

Two New Zealand Tourists Leave Iran after Four Months Disappearance

New Zealand prime minister Jacinda Ardern announced that detained New Zealand couple Christopher Richwhite and Bridget Thackwray have been released and left Iran after four months.

Four months ago, these two social media influencers entered Iran from Turkey’s border, and then, they disappeared offline.
So far, Iran authorities had refused to confirm their detention until today when the New Zealand prime minister announced their release after negotiation.

As of yet, the reason for their possible arrest is unknown.

Nationwide Protests: 119 People Indicted in Zanjan Province

The Chief Justice of Zanjan Province announced that 119 people arrested during the nationwide protests were indicted.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting IRNA, the Chief Justice of Zanjan Province announced the indictment against 119 protestors in this province.

Esmail Sadeghi commented: so far, 279 legal cases have been opened against 325 individuals across the province courthouses. Of these cases, 137 (47%) have been reviewed, and 119 people were indicted.
