Jafar Sadeghi Sentenced to 10 Months in Prison

HRANA– Jafar Sadeghi, a resident of Oshnavieh, has been sentenced to 10 months of discretionary imprisonment by Branch 101 of the Criminal Court in Oshnavieh.

According to Kurdpa, Jafar Sadeghi has been sentenced to 10 months in prison by Branch 101 of the Oshnavieh Criminal Court on the charge of “propaganda against the regime.”

It is worth noting that the charge of “propaganda against the regime” falls under the jurisdiction of the Revolutionary Court. However, due to the absence of a Revolutionary Court in Oshnavieh, security-related cases are typically referred to the Revolutionary Court in Mahabad. After review and the issuance of a ruling there, the case is sent back to the Criminal Court in Oshnavieh for execution.

Jafar Sadeghi was previously arrested by security forces and later released on bail.

He is a mountaineering and rock climbing instructor and a member of the Baran Mountaineering Group in Oshnavieh.

Arrest of Nine Citizens by Security Forces in Various Cities

HRANA News Agency – Over the past several days, nine citizens—Kamyar (Kamal) Oghabi, Ahsan Othmani, Hamzeh Othmani, Ramyar Rezaei, Omid Bakhah, Abdollah Bakhah, Askar Najafi, Hassan Falaeian, and Abdul Rasouli—have been arrested by security forces in the cities of Oshnavieh, Marivan, Qasr-e Shirin, Divandarreh, and Piranshahr, and transferred to undisclosed locations.

According to a report by Kordpa, on Sunday, June 29, Kamyar Oghabi was arrested at his home in the village of Balagir, a district of Oshnavieh, without a judicial warrant. Security agents reportedly used violence during the arrest and took him to an unknown location. Oghabi, 33, is a married environmental activist with a prior record of arrest and conviction.

Kordpa also reported that in recent days, Askar Najafi, a resident of Sarpol-e Zahab, was detained by security forces at his workplace in the Qasr-e Shirin market and taken to an undisclosed location. No warrant was presented at the time of his arrest.

Additionally, according to KolbarNews, five residents of the village of Dareh-Nakhi, a district of Marivan, were arrested by security forces on Sunday and taken to unknown locations. The individuals were identified as Ahsan Othmani (22), Hamzeh Othmani (24), Ramyar Rezaei (25), Omid Bakhah (30), and Abdollah Bakhah (35). The arrests were reportedly carried out without judicial warrants, and the individuals’ homes were searched.

Separately, KolbarNews reported that Hassan Falaeian—also known as “Hawar Rojhelatî”—a poet and cultural activist from Piranshahr, was arrested on Sunday, June 21, and transferred to an undisclosed location. He remains in custody.

Furthermore, on Wednesday, June 18, security forces arrested a citizen in Divandarreh. KolbarNews identified the individual as Abdul Rasouli, 37, from the village of Tazabad Doleh Rash, a district of Divandarreh.

At the time of this report, the reasons for the arrests, the charges, and the whereabouts of the detainees remain unknown.

Soleiman Ghader Galvan Arrested in Oshnavieh

HRANA News Agency – On Monday, June 23, Soleiman Ghader Galvan, a resident of Oshnavieh and brother of Abdolsalam Ghader Galvan, one of the victims of the 2022 nationwide protests, was arrested by security forces in the city and taken to an undisclosed location.

Kurdpa reported that the arrest took place on Monday, June 24, 2025, at his family home without the presentation of a judicial warrant.

As of the time of this report, the reasons for the arrest, his place of detention, and the charges against him remain unknown.

Ghader Galvan has previously faced arrests and other encounters with security forces.

It is worth noting that his brother, Abdolsalam Ghader Galvan was shot and injured during the 2022 nationwide protests in Oshnavieh and later died on September 26, 2022, at a hospital in Urmia.

Reza Ezzat Taj Arrested by Ministry of Intelligence in Oshnavieh

HRANA News Agency – On Saturday, June 7, Reza Ezzat Taj, a resident of Oshnavieh, was arrested after being summoned to the city’s office of the Ministry of Intelligence.

According to Kurdpa, Reza Ezzat Taj was summoned via a phone call to the Ministry of Intelligence’s office in Oshnavieh, and was arrested upon appearing at the facility.

As of now, there is no information available regarding the reasons for his arrest, his current whereabouts, or the charges brought against him.

Reza Ezzat Taj, a resident of Shahvaneh village in the Oshnavieh region, has previously faced security-related confrontations and arrests.

Hidi Shadikhah Sentenced to Nearly Two Years on Political Charges

HRANA News Agency – Hidi Shadikhah, a resident of Oshnavieh, has been sentenced to one year and ten months in prison by Branch 101 of the Criminal Court II in the city.

According to HRANA, citing Kurdpa, Hidi Shadikhah was convicted on charges of collaborating with an opposition group.

Shadikhah had previously been released from Oshnavieh prison on February 17, 2025, after posting bail. He was originally arrested by security forces on December 31, 2024.

The Oshnavieh resident has a prior history of arrest and legal prosecution in connection with his activism.

While, under Article 302 of Iran’s Criminal Procedure Code, charges such as “collaboration with opposition groups” fall under the jurisdiction of the Revolutionary Court, in some cities these cases are reviewed by criminal courts due to the structural absence or limitations of Revolutionary Courts in smaller towns. Although this practice does not align with the law, it has become common in areas lacking specialized judicial institutions.

Oshnavieh: Majid Daryaei Sentenced to One Year in Prison

HRANA News Agency – Majid (Najm al-Din) Daryaei, a resident of Oshnavieh, has been sentenced to one year in prison by Branch 101 of the Oshnavieh Criminal Court II.

According to Kurdpa, Daryaei was convicted on charges of “propaganda against the regime in favor of opposition groups.”

His interrogation session took place on Wednesday, April 9, at Branch 1 of the Oshnavieh Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office. He was released on bail following the charges being formally announced.

Daryaei has previously faced arrest and judicial proceedings over his activism.

Although Article 302 of Iran’s Code of Criminal Procedure designates Revolutionary Courts as the proper venue for charges like “propaganda against the regime,” in smaller cities such cases are often heard in criminal courts due to the absence or limited capacity of Revolutionary Courts. While this practice lacks legal conformity, it has become common in areas with limited judicial infrastructure.

17-Year-Old Milad Ebrahimzadeh Arrested by Security Forces

HRANA News Agency – On Sunday, May 11, Milad Ebrahimzadeh, a 17-year-old resident of Oshnavieh, was arrested by agents of the Ministry of Intelligence and transferred to the ministry’s detention facility.

According to Kolbar News, he is 17-year-old nephew of political prisoner Isa Ebrahimzadeh.

He was reportedly arrested with violence at his home in the village of Deh-Shams by Intelligence Ministry agents and then taken to the Ministry of Intelligence’s detention facility in Oshnavieh for interrogation.

The report indicates that alleged cooperation with opposition parties was cited as one of the reasons for his arrest.

Three Citizens, Including a Teenager, Arrested by Security Forces in Mahabad and Oshnavieh

In recent days, security forces arrested three individuals, named Faiq Ghaderzadeh, Rasoul Pourkhazri and Hemin Shah-Mohammadi, a teenager, in Mahabad and Oshnavieh.

According to HRANA, quoting Kurdpa, on Sunday, December 29, 2024, security forces detained Faiq Ghaderzadeh, a 22-year-old resident of Mahabad, at his workplace without presenting a warrant. He was then transferred to a security detention facility in Urmia.

Kurdpa also reported that security forces arrested two other citizens: Rasoul Pourkhazri, a resident of Sufian village in Oshnavieh, and Hemin Shah-Mohammadi, a 17-year-old from Amirabad, Oshnavieh. Security forces stormed Pourkhazri’s home early Sunday morning and detained him without presenting a warrant, using violent measures. He was taken to an undisclosed location. Shah-Mohammadi was similarly detained on Friday, December 27, without a warrant and transferred to an unknown location.

No information has been released about the reasons for these arrests or the charges against these individuals.

In 2024, HRANA documented 561 cases of human rights violations in West Azerbaijan Province, including Oshnavieh and Mahabad, placing it third among all provinces in Iran for reported violations. Notably, at least 34 individuals under the age of 18 were detained by security forces during the same period.

Oshnavieh: Four Citizens Arrested by Security Forces

Yesterday, December 26, four citizens from Oshnavieh, identified as Morad Abdollah Omari, Nouraddin Molla-Alizadeh, Tawfiq Amini, and Mohammad Behroozi, were arrested by security forces in this city and transferred to a security detention facility in Urmia.

Kurdpa identified the detainees as Morad Abdollah Omari, Nouraddin Molla-Alizadeh, and Tawfiq Amini, and Mohammad Behroozi, 28 years old and father of one child.

The report indicates that the arrests were carried out at their homes, without presenting a judicial warrant, and involved physical violence. The detainees were subsequently transferred to a security detention facility in Urmia.

As of now, no information is available regarding the reasons for the arrests or the charges against these individuals.

Political Prisoners Mehran Hassan Zadeh and Hamid Abdollah Zadeh Sentenced to Death

Mehran Hassan Zadeh and Hamid Abdollah Zadeh, political prisoners detained in Urmia Prison, have been sentenced to death in separate cases by Branch 2 of the Revolutionary Court in Urmia.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists in Iran, Mehran Hassan Zadeh was convicted on charges of baghi (armed rebellion), while Hamid Abdollah Zadeh was sentenced to death on suspicion of membership in an opposition party.

A source close to their cases confirmed to HRANA: “In Mehran’s case, the authorities accused him of involvement in the killing of a Basij member, which led to the baghi charge and the issuance of a death sentence. He was notified of the verdict a month ago. Regarding Hamid Abdollah Zadeh, his death sentence was issued two months ago.”

Mehran Hassan Zadeh, a resident of Oshnavieh, was initially arrested during the 2022 nationwide protests. After a period in detention, he was released on bail. In a separate part of his case, Branch 101 of the Oshnavieh Criminal Court sentenced him to nine months in prison on charges of “assembly and collusion against national security.” He was subsequently re-arrested and transferred to Urmia Prison.

Hamid Abdollah Zadeh, a resident of Urmia, was arrested by security forces in the fall of 2022 and has remained in Urmia Prison since his detention.

Both individuals are currently held in the political ward of Urmia Prison.
