Three Citizens Sentenced to a Total of 4 Years in Prison on Political Charges

Diako Azizi, Loghman Zangi, and Siamand Zangi, residents of Oshnavieh, have each been sentenced to 16 months in prison by the city’s Criminal Court, according to a report by Kurdpa.

The verdict, issued by Branch 101 of Oshnavieh’s Criminal Court 2 under Judge Ansari, charges Azizi, Zangi, and Zangi with “collaboration with an opposition group” against the government. Each individual received a 16-month prison term.

These citizens were initially detained by security forces in Oshnavieh on Wednesday, September 4, 2024. Following their arrests, Siamand Zangi was released on bail on September 25, and Loghman Zangi was released on October 5, 2024.

Edris Karsaz Sentenced to Three Years in Prison

Edris (Idris) Karsaz, a resident of Oshnavieh, has been sentenced to three years in prison by the Revolutionary Court of this city, according to a report by Kurdpa.

Based on the verdict recently communicated to Mr. Karsaz, the Oshnavieh Revolutionary Court sentenced him to three years in prison for charges related to “membership and collaboration with an anti-regime group.”

On July 3, 2023, Edris Karsaz was arrested by security forces at his home in Oshnavieh without a judicial warrant and transferred to The Ministry of Intelligence’s detention facility in Urmia. He was eventually released on bail from Oshnavieh Prison on August 21.

Karsaz is 55 years old and a resident of Oshnavieh.

Mohammad Rasoulpour Sentenced to Two Years in Prison

Mohammad Rasoulpour, a resident of Oshnavieh, has been sentenced to two years in prison by the Revolutionary Court of the city, as reported by Kurdpa.

Based on the ruling issued by the Oshnavieh Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Ali Ansari, and communicated to Mr. Rasoulpour, he was sentenced to two years in prison on charges of “membership and collaboration with an opposition group” and “propaganda against the regime.”

Mr. Rasoulpour was arrested by security forces on the night of Tuesday, July 2, 2023, without a judicial warrant, and was released from Oshnavieh Prison after 13 days on bail.

Mohammad Rasoulpour, a 52-year-old married father of three, is from the village of “Kohneh Qaleh,” a suburb of Oshnavieh.

Three Citizens Arrested by Security Forces in Oshnavieh

Today, September 4, Diako Azizi, Loghman Zangi, and Siamand Zangi were arrested by security forces in Oshnavieh County and taken to an unknown location, according to Kurdpa.

The identities of these individuals have been reported as “Diako Azizi, a resident of Bab Khaledabad village in Oshnavieh, and Loqman Zangi and Siamand Zangi, both residents of Kani Surk village in Oshnavieh.”

According to the report, their arrests were carried out without a judicial warrant.

As of the time of this report, no information is available regarding the reasons for their arrest or the charges against them.

Three Oshnavieh’s Residents Arrested by Security Forces

Edris (Idris) Karsaz, Mohammad Rasulpour, and Kamal Oghabi, residents of Oshnavieh in West Azerbaijan province, were arrested by security forces in this city and transferred to an unknown location, according to a report by Kurdpa.

According to a source, Mr. Karsaz was arrested early in the morning on Wednesday, July 3rd, by security forces at his residence in Oshnavieh without a judicial warrant. On the other hand, Messrs. Rasul Pour and Oghabi were also arrested by security forces on the evening of Tuesday, July 2nd, without a judicial warrant.

As of the time of this report, no information has been obtained about the whereabouts and charges against these citizens.

Six Individuals Arrested in Oshnavieh by Security Forces

Security forces in Oshnavieh, West Azerbaijan province, arrested six residents and transferred them to an undisclosed location, according to reports from Kurdpa.

The individuals have been identified as Omid Rashid-Pak, Fakhreddin Modarresi, Rahim Rafa’ati, Hesameddin Mohmoudi (aged 19), Moloud Roosta, and Hassan Rasouli.

Rashid-Pak and Modarresi were taken into custody on May 2, while the other four were arrested on May 1, 2024.

The reasons for their arrests, their current locations, and the charges against them remain unknown at this time.

Isa Ebrahimzadeh Detained in Oshnavieh

In a concerning development, Isa Ebrahimzadeh was arrested by security forces in Oshnavieh on January 4 and taken to an undisclosed location.

His brother, Behnam Ebrahimzadeh, a worker’s rights advocate, disclosed the arrest, citing the Ministry of Intelligence’s involvement at Isa’s residence.

As of now, the exact location where he is being held and the charges against him remain unknown.

Ebrahimzadeh has encountered previous arrests and legal confrontations. On November 21, 2022, he was detained by security forces in connection with the nationwide protests of 2022. Subsequently, on January 12, 2023, he secured his release on bail of 500 million tomans (approximately 10,000 dollars) from Oshnavieh Prison.

Two Individuals Detained by Security Forces in Oshnavieh

On January 23, 2024, security forces reportedly apprehended Soran Bangini and Shahram Ebrahimi in Oshnavieh, taking them to an undisclosed facility, as reported by Kurdpa.

Both aged 20, Bangini and Ebrahimi hailed from Kani Rash village in Oshnavieh County. Despite family inquiries with IRGC’s intelligence offices in Oshnavieh, there has been no response. Allegedly, no arrest warrant was presented by the agents. The reasons for their arrests and the charges against them remain unknown at this time.

Oshnavieh Residents Sentenced to Prison for Alleged Political Opposition Ties

Four individuals from Oshnavieh, namely Soleiman Sharvirani, Aram Shaaban, Abdolkarim Kakul, and Fakhreddin Pudat, have received a collective sentence of six years and six months from the Oshnavieh Revolutionary Court, as reported by Kurdpa.

Presiding Judge Mehdi Rezaie delivered the verdict, assigning one year to Sharvirani, three years and three months to Shaaban, one year to Kakul, and one year and three months to Pudat. The charges leading to these sentences include “membership and collaboration with one of the political opposition parties.”

The arrests of these individuals took place on July 9, 2023, in Oshnavieh, after which they were released on bail following the completion of the interrogation process by security forces.

Nine Oshnavieh Residents Sentenced to a Total of Over 27 Years in Prison

The Oshnavieh Revolutionary Court has recently issued sentences totaling 27 years and five months in prison for nine individuals in the city, as reported by Kurdpa.

The individuals and their respective sentences are as follows:

1. Yaghoub Mahmoudi Azar: Seven years; Arrested on June 27, 2022, and released on bail on August 18, 2022.
2. Bahman Mahmoudi Azar: Seven years; Arrested on June 27, 2022, and released on bail on August 4, 2022.
3. Priot Tabnak: Two years; Arrested on June 27, 2022, and released on bail on August 18, 2022.
4. Mohsen Azizi: Two years; Arrested on June 27, 2022, and released on bail on July 24, 2022.
5. Khoshnav Ayni: Two years; Arrested on July 13, 2022, and released on bail on July 24, 2022.
6. Farhang Keramat: Two years and six months; Arrested on July 13, 2022, and released on bail on August 18, 2022.
7. Yousef Rahmani: Two years and five months; Arrested on July 13, 2022, and released on bail on August 17, 2022.
8. Khezr Abdollahi Amirabad: One year; Arrested on July 9, 2023, and released after a while on bail.
9. Othman Hamzeh Zadeh: One year and six months; Arrested on July 9, 2023, and released after a while on bail.

Among the charges brought against these individuals was “membership and collaboration with one of the political opposition parties.”
