A Woman and a Man Executed in Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan

HRANA News Agency – On Saturday, March 29, the death sentences of two inmates — including a woman — who had previously been convicted in separate cases on charges related to drug offenses and murder, were carried out in Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan.

Iran Human Rights has identified them as 24-year-old Mahnaz Kakaei and approximately 40-year-old Ali Sufian, a resident of Shiraz.

According to the report, Mr. Sufian had been arrested three years ago on charges related to drug offenses and was sentenced to death by the judiciary. Ms. Kakaei had been arrested four years and seven months ago for allegedly killing her fiancé and was also sentenced to death.

As of the time of this report, the executions have not been officially announced by prison authorities or other responsible institutions.

In 2024, HRA reported 61 executions in Dastgerd Prison, Isfahan, making it the third-highest among prisons in terms of execution numbers.

French Citizen Olivier Grondeau Released After 887 Days in Iranian Prison

HRANA – French President Emmanuel Macron has announced the release of Olivier Grondeau, a French citizen who had been imprisoned in Iran. Grondeau has now returned safely to France.

According to HRANA, quoting Iran newspaper, Grondeau’s release was confirmed earlier today. President Macron welcomed his return and reaffirmed France’s commitment to defending its citizens.

Meanwhile, the French Foreign Minister revealed that Grondeau spent 887 days in Iranian prisons.

Olivier Grondeau was arrested in October 2022 in Shiraz and later sentenced to five years in prison on national security-related charges. His family has repeatedly rejected these accusations, emphasizing that Grondeau traveled to Iran on a tourist visa due to his passion for Persian poetry.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists in Iran, the identity of the executed prisoner has been confirmed as Yousef Rostami, a resident of Khorramabad. He had previously been sentenced to death by judicial authorities on murder charges.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists in Iran, the executed prisoner has been identified as Mahdi Iranian.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists in Iran, the identity of the executed prisoner has been confirmed as Saeed Jokar. Based on information obtained by HRANA, Jokar had been sentenced to death by judicial authorities on non-political charges.

After Writing a Letter to Khamenei, Mohammad Davari Transferred to an Unknown Location

HRANA News Agency – Mohammad Davari, a labor activist serving his sentence in Adelabad Prison, Shiraz, was transferred to an undisclosed location yesterday. According to his defense attorney, this transfer is linked to a letter he wrote yesterday to Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of Iran, in which he described torture, threats of sexual violence, and fabricated charges against him in prison.

His lawyer, Fereshteh Tabanian, confirmed the news, stating:
“Following the publication of my client Mohammad Davari’s letter to Mr. Khamenei, he was taken from Adelabad Prison in Shiraz to an unknown location this morning.”

Another defense lawyer, Astareh Ansari, based in Shiraz, has been unable to obtain any information on Davari’s whereabouts despite persistent inquiries.

Details of the Letter

Two days ago, Mohammad Davari wrote a letter from prison, detailing torture, threats of sexual assault, and fabricated cases against him. He also accused prison officials of violent treatment, medical negligence, and inhumane conditions for inmates.

Davari’s Sentence

In November, 2024, Branch 1 of the Shiraz Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Seyed Mahmoud Sadati, sentenced him to:

  • Three years in prison for “insulting the Supreme Leader,” along with a travel ban, passport revocation, a ban on online activities, and two years of forced residence in Bardsir, Kerman.
  • One year and six months in prison for “propaganda against the regime in favor of opposition groups.”

Under Article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code, the longest sentence—three years in prison—was enforceable.

Background

Mohammad Davari, aged around 30, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Azad University of Yasuj and is a Political Science undergraduate student at Golestan University of Shiraz. He has a history of arrest and conviction due to his activities.

He was last arrested on May 14, 2024, and transferred to Adelabad Prison to serve his sentence.

HRANA News Agency – The Supreme Court has rejected the retrial request of Ehsan Meshksar, a political prisoner held in Adelabad Prison, Shiraz.

A source familiar with the case informed HRANA that Meshksar suffers from a gastrointestinal illness and requires specialized medical care, raising concerns about his health behind bars.

Meshksar was arrested on October 28, 2023, by IRGC intelligence agents at his home in Sadra, Shiraz. He was later transferred to Adelabad Prison.

In June 2024, the Revolutionary Court sentenced him to 10 years in prison on charges including “membership in illegal groups with the intent to disrupt national security.” The Fars Province Court of Appeals subsequently upheld the verdict in full.

Ehsan Meshksar, 37, is married, a father to a 13-year-old child, and a resident of Shiraz.

HRANA News Agency – In the early hours of Wednesday, January 29, 2025, the death sentences of three prisoners convicted of non-political offenses were carried out at Adelabad Prison in Shiraz.

According to HRANA, the news agency of the Human Rights Activists in Iran, the executed individuals have been identified as:

  • Hamid Fanaei (resident of Marvdasht)
  • Amir Fanaei (resident of Marvdasht)

HRANA News Agency – At dawn yesterday, January 15, 2025, the death sentences of three prisoners convicted of murder were carried out in Adelabad Prison, Shiraz, according to the Iran Human Rights Organization.

The identities of the executed prisoners have been reported as follows:

  • Farrokh Nasiri, approximately 40 years old
  • Payam Cheraghi, 36 years old, both residents of Najafabad, Isfahan
  • Mansour Gholizadeh, 29 years old, a resident of Rafsanjan

According to the report, Mr. Nasiri and Mr. Cheraghi were arrested four years ago in a joint case on charges of murder and were subsequently sentenced to death by a judicial authority. Mr. Gholizadeh was arrested three years ago for murder during a dispute with motives linked to family honor and was also sentenced to death.

On Sunday, January 5, 2025, two prisoners were executed in Adelabad Prison in Shiraz on charges related to drug offenses.

According to Haal Vsh, one of the executed individuals was identified as Khalil Alizahi (Sargolzahi), a 45-year-old father of eight from Zahedan. He had been arrested two years ago in Neyriz County on drug-related charges and subsequently sentenced to death by the Shiraz Revolutionary Court.

HRANA identified the second prisoner as Amir-Mohammad Farahani, a resident of Arak. Farahani had also been arrested on drug-related charges and sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court.
