Ali Jahanian Arrested in Hamedan

On April 26, 2023, Ali Jahanian, a resident of Nahavand, was arrested after an appearance at the Ministry of Intelligence office in Hamedan. The agents transferred him to an undisclosed location.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, on April 26, 2023, Ali Jahanian was arrested in Hamedan.

An informed source close to Jahanian’s family told HRANA, “He was summoned by the Ministry of Intelligence and arrested at their office. His family’s frequent inquiries from judicial and security institutions about his whereabouts have remained unanswered.”

Jahanian, a poet and political activist, recently published a video on social media criticizing the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ali Khamenei.

The allegations against Jahanian are still unknown.

 

Abdollah Momeni Detained in Solitary Confinement at Ward 209 of Evin Prison

On April 27th, political activist Abdollah Momeni was arrested by intelligence agents at his residence in Tehran and taken to Ward 209 of Evin Prison, which is controlled by the Ministry of Intelligence.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, Momeni is being held in solitary confinement at Ward 209 of Evin Prison.

Momeni’s son, Hamidreza Momeni, shared that his father was able to make a short call to the family and inform them of his current situation.

Security forces searched his house during the arrest and seized some of his personal belongings.

Momeni is a well-known former student activist who served as the spokesperson for the Alumni Association of Iran (Advar-e Tahkim Vahdat) organization two decades ago. In March 2014, he was released from Evin Prison after serving a five-year sentence.

Security forces arrested political activist Abdollah Momeni at his residence and took him to an undisclosed location.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, On April 27, 2023, political activist Abdollah Momeni was arrested by security forces.

An informed source close to Momeni’s family told HRANA that agents searched his home and confiscated some of his belongings.

The reason for his arrest and the location of his detention are currently unknown.

Momeni is a prominent former student activist who served as the spokesperson for the Alumni Association of Iran (Advar-e Tahkim Vahdat) organization two decades ago. In March 2014, he was released from Evin Prison after serving a five-year sentence.

 

Forty Administrators of Instagram Pages Arrested in Tehran

Iranian Cyber Police have announced the arrest of 40 administrators of Instagram pages for modeling and online apparel shops on charges of allegedly publishing “half-naked or immodest pictures of women.”

According to HRANA, a news agency for human rights activists, quoting Entekhab News Outlet, 40 individuals were arrested in Tehran.

The chief of the Tehran Cyber Police revealed that those arrested operated Instagram pages for Mezon, modeling, and online shops.
This police official stated that they had published pictures of immodest and half-naked women without regard for privacy rights, solely to make profits and attract followers.

The detainees have been charged and a legal case has been opened against them. The report did not disclose their identities.

Seven Arrested for Inciting Public Dancing in Rasht

In Rasht, Gilan Province, seven individuals were arrested and taken to an undisclosed location for allegedly inciting public dancing and propaganda against the regime.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting Khabar Online, seven people were arrested in Rasht.

The detainees were apprehended for allegedly inviting and encouraging people to dance in public, removing hijab, and engaging in immodesty.
Khabar Online did not mention the identities of these detainees and the location of their detention.”

Political Activist Keyvan Samimi Arrested

Keyvan Samimi, a political activist and the editor of Iran Farda Magazine, was arrested by security forces and taken to an undisclosed location.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting Shargh Newspaper, political activist Keyvan Samimi was arrested by security forces on charges of allegedly associating with an anti-regime group outside the country.

In January 2023, Samimi was released from Semnan Prison after serving a three-year sentence. However, he had to provide a bond to be released due to a new legal case opened against him while in prison.

On August 18, 2022, Samimi was indicted for “assembly and collusion” under Article 10 of the Islamic Penal Code.

Samimi has a history of political activism and has previously been imprisoned for six years in 2009 for questioning the outcome of the disputed 2009 presidential election, participating in protests, and writing articles critical of the government. He has also been imprisoned for his political activities prior to the 1979 Revolution.

Former Political Prisoner Mosayeb Raisi Yeganeh Arrested

On April 17, 2023, security forces arrested former political prisoner Mosayeb Raisi Yeganeh in Tehran and took him to an undisclosed location.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, on April 17, 2023, Mosayeb Raisi Yeganeh was arrested in Tehran.

The location of his detention and allegations are still unknown.

Yeganeh was also arrested by security forces over protests, for a short time on February 25, 2023.

The Ministry of Intelligence agents previously arrested Yeganeh in September 2017. Subsequently, the Tehran Revolutionary Court sentenced him to six years imprisonment for “propaganda against the regime, blasphemy, insulting the Supreme Leader of Iran.” This verdict was upheld on appeal. Ultimately, on February 4, 2020, he was jailed in Evin Prison to serve his sentence.

After the fire incident at Evin Prison on October 15, 2022, Yeganeh was relocated to Rajai Shahr Prison, and after a while, he was released from jail without prior notice.

 

Five Inmates Executed in Adelabad and Dastgerd Prisons

On April 5, 2023, three inmates convicted of drug-related crimes were executed in Adelabad Prison, Shiraz. Also, on March 19, a man and woman convicted of murder were executed in Dastgerd Prison, Isfahan.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting Iran Human Rights Organization, Adelabad prison officials carried out the execution of three inmates.

These individuals have been identified as Yousef Jome’eh Hosseini (an Afghan national), Kazem Rasouli and Ali Hossein Sadeghzadeh, all convicted of drug-related crimes three years ago.

Also, Iran Human Rights Organization reported that on March 19, 2023, Hassan Bahmani and Maryam Najjar (female) were executed in Dastgerd prison, Isfahan. They were previously convicted of murder in two separate cases.

In 2022, the Department of Statistics and Publication of Human Rights Activists in Iran registered 457 reports related to the death penalty. This included 92 death sentences, including the conviction of 6 people to public execution and 565 execution sentences were carried out, 2 of which have been carried out in public. Based on the announced identifications of some of the executed individuals, 501 were male and 11 were female. In addition, 5 juvenile offenders were executed in 2022, meaning they were under the age of 18 at the time they committed the crime.

Two Individuals Killed in Unrestrained Shooting by Military Forces

In separate incidents on April 3, 2023, Hassan Siahani and Eslam Dorkhani were shot dead by military forces in Sistan and Baluchestan Province.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting Haal Vsh, on April 3, 2023, a citizen was killed in an unrestrained shooting by military forces in Saravan County, Sistan and Baluchestan Province.

This individual has been identified as Hassan Siahani, age 40, and a resident of a village in Saravan County. The military forces reportedly began shooting directly at him without any warning.

According to another report, military forces shot dead another citizen, identified as Eslam Dorkhani, in Sistan and Baluchestan Province on the same day.

According to HRANA annual report, in 2022, 845 people were shot by military forces. At least 571 of the victims lost their life. This includes 22 kolbars, 9 fuel carriers, and 540 civilians. 274 people were injured by military forces open fire, including 134 kolbars, 128 civilians, and 12 fuel carriers.

 

 

Abbas Nasiri San’ati Arrested in Tehran

On March 27, Abbas Nasiri San’ati, a resident of Tehran, was arrested by security forces and taken to an undisclosed location.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, on March 27, 2023, security forces arrested Abbas Nasiri San’ati, age 52, in Tehran.

An informed source close to his family told HRANA, “Monday morning, intelligence agents arrested San’ati at his sister’s house in Tehran. His whereabouts are unknown, raising his family’s concern.”

The reasons for his arrest, his whereabouts and the allegation against him are still unknown.
