Four inmates Executed in Shiraz and Zahedan

On November 12, 2022, Adel-Abad Prison’s officials executed an inmate convicted of drug-related crimes.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, on November 12, 2022, an unidentified inmate was executed in Adel-Abad Prison in Shiraz.
 

Haal Vsh also reported the execution of three inmates in Zahedan Prison on November 13. They have been identified as Emam Bakhsh Narooi, Mohsen Anshini, age 24, and Vali Roodini. In 2020, there were arrested for drug offences.

 

None of the official sources and media outlets inside the country has reported these executions at the time of writing.

 

Nationwide Protests: 276 People Indicted in Markazi Province

The Chief Justice of Markazi Province announced the indictment against 276 people arrested during the protests in this province.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, in Markazi Province, 276 people have been indicted for participating in protests.

This Chief Justice claimed that 40 individuals were identified as leaders of the protests. A hundred minors or young arrestees were released without pressing any charges after signing a commitment letter.

Nationwide Protests: Parham Paravari Charged with Enmity Against the God

In the first hearing, Parham Paravari was charged with “enmity against the God (Moharebeh)” a charge that can result in severe punishment. On October 4, 2022, Paravari was arrested amid protests in Tehran.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, Parham Paravari has been charged with “enmity against the God (Moharebeh).”

In a video published on social media, his father, Mazhar Parvari stated, “forty days ago, when my son was returning home from work, he was arrested by security forces in the street where protests were taking place. Since then, he has been jailed in Ward 209 of Evin Prison.”

Two Individuals Arrested in Bavi County

On November 9, security forces arrested Saeed Halavi and Ali Ghazi in Molasani, Bavi County, Khuzestan Province. The agents transferred them to an undisclosed location.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, on November 9, Saeed Halavi and Ali Ghazi, age 28, were arrested by security forces in Bavi County.
 
According to an informed source, Ghazi was arrested at his father’s house. The agents did not show any arrest warrant and confiscated some of his personal belongings.
 
The reason for these arrests and their whereabouts are still unknown.

 

 

Six Individuals Arrested in Fardis

An IRGC commander in Fardis County, Alborz Province, announced the arrest of six individuals allegedly for “setting fire on a Musalla” (a complex used for congregation prayers and other ceremonies).

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting Fars, six citizens were arrested in Fardis.

This IRGC official claimed, “on November 8, six people who had set fire to Emam Khomeini Musalla by throwing Molotov cocktails, were identified and arrested.”

“These individuals were in association with anti-regime media. Their cases were delivered to judicial authorities,” he added.

Kish Airlines’s Pilot Captain Mohammad-Ali Azimi Arrested

On November 9, Basij Militia arrested pilot Mohammad-Ali Azimi in Tehran and took him to an undisclosed location.

An informed source told HRANA that on Wednesday evening, he was arrested by Basij Militia before a Basij base in Tehran and taken to an undisclosed location. Since the arrest, he has not called his family.

The reason for his arrest and conditions are still unknown.

 

Eight Former Political Prisoner Acquitted of Charges

The Tehran Court of Appeals acquitted eight former political prisoners of the charges they faced in prison. These individuals include Alireza Farshi, Shapour Ehsanirad, Akbar Faraji, Shahab Soltanian, Esmail Gerami, Akbar Bagheri, Pouya Ghobadi Bistooni and Davoud Abdollahi.

According to this verdict issued on November 7, all defendants are acquitted of the charge of “fight and assault” and “disturbing prison order.” Initially, each had been sentenced to 11 months and 15 days in prison and 50 lashes.

In violation of the prison laws, these political prisoners were housed in the ward of prisoners of violent crimes in the Great Tehran Penitentiary. As a result, on October 8, 2021, a quarrel occurred between these political prisoners and their fellow inmates.

Lawyer Hassan Younesi Arrested in Tehran

On November 7, 2022, security forces arrested lawyer Hassan Younesi at Mehrabad airport in Tehran.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting Emtedad, on November 7, Hassan Younesi, attorney at law, was arrested by security forces.

Younesi, reportedly, was arrested along with another lawyer Mostafa Nili at the airport. Yesterday, November 9, he made a short phone call to his family to inform his arrest.

Elham Afkari Arrested in Shiraz

Security forces arrested Elham Afkari in Shiraz and took her to an undisclosed location. She is the sister of Iranian wrestler Navid Afkari, who was executed on September 12, 2020, in Adel-Abad Prison despite serious ambiguities in his case and worldwide outcry to halt the execution.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, Elham Afkari, Navid Afkari’s sister, was arrested by security forces in Shiraz.

Breaking the news, her brother, Saeed Afkari, wrote on social media, “My sister Elham Afkari was arrested in Shiraz, and there is no news of her husband and her three-year-old daughter Liana.”

IRGC-affiliated news agency Tasnim, however, claimed that Afakri was arrested by intelligence agents at the border while trying to flee the country.

Spanish National Ana Baneira Arrested in Iran

During the nationwide protests, security forces arrested at least two Spanish nationals who are still in detention. 41-year-old Santiago Sanchez was arrested in Saqqez after visiting Mahsa Amini’s burial place. HRANA has identified the second individual as Ana Baneira, 24 years old.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, Spanish citizen Ana Baneira, age 24, was arrested and jailed in Iran.

Baneira’s whereabouts and the date she was arrested are still unknown. An informed source close to her family told HRANA that she was arrested in recent days.
