Execution of Three Prisoners in Jiroft Prison on Drug-Related Charges

Yesterday, December 26, three prisoners were executed in Jiroft Prison on charges related to drug offenses.

According to Kurdpa, the identities of two of them have been confirmed as “As’ad Amini, 27, from Sardasht, and Saman Fakhri, 33, from Baneh.” The report states that these two prisoners had been arrested in Jiroft in connection with a joint case involving drug-related offenses and were sentenced to death by the judiciary.
HRANA has identified the third individual as Jasem Jahan Tigh, an Afghan national. Mr. Jahan Tigh had also been previously sentenced to death on drug-related charges.

As of the time of this report, the executions have not been announced by prison officials or the relevant authorities.

In 2024, the Department of Statistics and Publication of Human Rights Activists in Iran documented 777 cases related to the right to life, including the sentencing of 207 individuals to death and the execution of 883 individuals. Among these, 4 executions were carried out in public. Of those executed, 772 were male, 26 were female, and 5 were juvenile offenders—individuals under 18 years old at the time of their alleged crimes.

Execution of Six Prisoners Carried Out in Gonabad and Adelabad Prisons

The death sentences of six prisoners, previously convicted on separate charges of drug-related crimes and murder, were carried out in Gonabad and Adelabad prisons.

According to HRANA, quoting Hal Vash, four prisoners were executed early this morning, Thursday, December 26, 2024, in Gonabad Prison. Their identities have been confirmed as:

  • Abdullah Narooie, 35, married with two children, from Zahedan.
  • Hossein Salarzahi, approximately 45, married with three children, from Zahedan.
  • Javad Ghaffari, 35, from Mashhad.
  • Ahmad Ghafran, approximately 43, from Birjand.

The report states that Abdullah Narooie was arrested in 2020, Ahmad Ghafran and Javad Ghaffari in 2019, and Hossein Salarzahi in 2018 on drug-related charges. They were subsequently sentenced to death by the Gonabad Revolutionary Court. The prisoners were transferred from the general ward to solitary confinement on Tuesday to await execution.

Three of the prisoners were executed without a final meeting with their families.

In a separate report from the Iran Human Rights Organization, two other prisoners were executed early yesterday morning in Adelabad Prison, Shiraz. They were identified as:

  • Hamed Ranjbar, 40, from Kerman, arrested four years ago on drug-related charges.
  • Kateb Seyednian, an Afghan national arrested three years ago on murder charges.

As of the time of this report, prison authorities and responsible institutions have not officially announced the executions.

Of these executions, four were carried out in public. Many of the defendants were denied a fair trial.

Three prisoners executed in Ghezel Hesar Prison, Karaj

At dawn on December 25, the death sentences of three prisoners were carried out in Ghezel Hesar Prison, Karaj.

HRANA has identified the executed individuals as Hamed Pakdaman, Masoud Jalilian, and Hossein Mansouri-Nasb. Hamed Pakdaman was arrested approximately three years ago on charges of “enmity against God (Moharebeh) through armed robbery” and was subsequently sentenced to death by the judiciary.

The two other prisoners, Mr. Jalilian and Mr. Mansouri Nasb, had been arrested on drug-related charges and later sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court.

As of the time of this report, prison authorities and relevant institutions have not publicly announced these executions.

Two Brothers Executed in Dastgerd Prison, Isfahan

On December 24, 2024, two prisoners, who had been sentenced to death on murder charges in a joint case, were executed in Dastgerd Prison, Isfahan.

According to HRANA, citing the Iranian Human Rights Organization, the executed individuals were identified as brothers: Ali Manian, 27, and Jasem Manian, 31.

The report reveals that the brothers were arrested two years ago on allegations of murdering a friend. They were subsequently tried and sentenced to death in a joint case.

At the time of writing, neither prison officials nor relevant authorities have formally confirmed the execution.

Prisoner Executed in Nahavand Prison for Drug Offenses

At dawn today, December 24, a prisoner previously sentenced to death on drug-related charges was executed in Nahavand Prison.

The identity of the prisoner has been confirmed by HRANA as Ali Rahm Khani, 35, a resident of a village in the Chegeni County.

Based on information received by HRANA, Mr. Rahm Khani had been arrested on drug-related charges and subsequently sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court. He was transferred to solitary confinement yesterday in preparation for the execution.

As of the time of this report, the execution has not been publicly announced by prison authorities or relevant officials.

Four Prisoners Executed in Different Prisons Across Iran

In recent days, four prisoners were executed in prisons in Kermanshah, Urmia, Shiraz, and Birjand on charges related to murder and drug offenses.

At dawn on Saturday, December 21, Hamid Moradian, a resident of Firuzabad, Lorestan, was hanged in Kermanshah Prison. According to information obtained by HRANA, Mr. Moradian had previously been arrested on murder charges and sentenced to death by judicial authorities.

On Monday, December 23, a prisoner convicted of drug-related offenses was executed in Urmia Prison following a Revolutionary Court ruling. HRANA has identified the individual as Loghman Shangeh, a resident of Naqadeh.

Today, December 24, HRANA reported that “Amin Farahmand” was executed in Adelabad Prison, Shiraz, on drug-related charges.

Finally, Haal Vsh reported today the execution of 28-year-old Davood Ghaljaie, a father of one, in Birjand Prison. He was arrested in 2019 on drug-related charges and later sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court of Birjand. According to the report, his execution was carried out without a final family visit.

As of the time of this report, none of these executions have been officially announced by prison authorities or relevant officials.

Five Prisoners Transferred to Solitary Confinement for Execution in Ghezel Hesar Prison

Today, December23, five prisoners in Ghezel Hesar Prison, Karaj, who were previously sentenced to death on charges of murder and armed robbery, were transferred to solitary confinement in preparation for their executions.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists in Iran, the transfer occurred on Monday, December 23, 2024.

Further details, including the identities of these prisoners, are under investigation by HRANA.

On December 22, two prisoners convicted of drug-related offenses were executed in Dastgerd Prison, Isfahan.

The Iran Human Rights Organization has identified one of the prisoners as Arman Samadi, approximately 30 years old, whose conviction dates back four years. HRANA identified the second prisoner as Ashkan Parseh, a 29-year-old resident of Aligudarz.

Both individuals were arrested on charges related to drug offenses and subsequently sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court.

Three Prisoners, Including a Woman, Executed in Sari Prison

The death sentences of three prisoners, including a woman, previously convicted in separate cases of drug-related charges and murder, were carried out in Sari Prison.

According the Iran Human Rights Organization, the executions took place at dawn on Tuesday, December 17. The identities of the executed prisoners have been reported as Effat Hamedi, approximately 35 years old and a mother of one, Yousef Sattari, 38, a resident of Sari, and Manoochehr Hedayati, 47, a resident of Babol.

A source close to the matter stated: “Ms. Hamedi was arrested four years ago on charges of murdering her husband and was subsequently sentenced to death by the judiciary. Sattari was arrested three years ago for murdering a friend over financial disputes and was also sentenced to death. Additionally, Hedayati had been detained for three years on drug-related charges and was sentenced to death by the judiciary.”

Previously, HRANA had reported the execution of another prisoner, Jamal Asgarabadi, on the same day in the same prison.

Prisoner Executed in Sari Prison for Drug-Related Charges

The death sentence of a prisoner convicted on drug-related charges was carried out at dawn on Tuesday, December 17, in Sari Prison.

HRANA has identified the individual as Jamal Asgarabadi, 42, a resident of Sharifabad, Sari.

According to information obtained by HRANA, Asgarabadi had previously been arrested on drug-related charges and later sentenced to death by the court.

As of the time of this report, prison authorities and relevant officials have not publicly announced the execution.
